In addition to well-known models like the Toyota Vios and Hyundai Accent, the price competition in the B-segment sedan market also involves less popular models to incentivize consumer interest.

During the month of June, several B-segment sedans, including the Kia Soluto, Mitsubishi Attrage, and Mazda2, are offering promotions to boost sales and compete with other models in the segment, such as the Toyota Vios and Hyundai Accent.

Kia Soluto and Mazda2: Registration Fee Discounts

Thaco Vietnam is currently running various promotional programs for all Kia and Mazda models. Customers who place an order and complete payment for the Kia Soluto in June will receive a 50% discount on the registration fee.

The Kia Soluto MT Deluxe and AT Deluxe models are eligible for a discount of up to 35 million VND, resulting in a price reduction to 400 million VND. The remaining two models also have discounts ranging from 16-25 million VND compared to the manufacturer’s listed price.

For the Mazda2, there is an 85 million VND discount available for both the sedan and hatchback versions. The standard sedan is now priced at 420 million VND, 59 million VND lower than the manufacturer’s listed price. The Mazda2 Premium sedan variant is now priced at 514 million VND.

When contacting a Mazda dealer in Ho Chi Minh City, a sales consultant mentioned that customers can receive an additional discount of 5-10 million VND if they order the car in June. This special promotion is aimed at stimulating car purchases during this period.

“Customers who order the Mazda2 in June will receive a total discount of up to 90 million VND from the dealer. Additionally, complimentary gifts will be given to all Mazda buyers,” added the sales consultant.

According to the latest sales report from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), only 385 units of the Mazda2 sedan model were sold in the previous month, representing a decrease of nearly 13% compared to the previous month. Kia Vietnam also sold a total of 82 Soluto units, accounting for 2.2% of the segment’s total market share.

Mitsubishi Attrage and Suzuki Ciaz: Significant Discounts

In addition to the popular sedans from Thaco Vietnam, the Mitsubishi Attrage is also participating in the promotional race by offering a 50% discount on the registration fee, with a value of up to 30 million VND.

The standard version of the Mitsubishi Attrage has been reduced by 19 million VND, resulting in a price of 361 million VND. The CVT Premium variant is now priced at 465 million VND.

Our survey revealed that some dealers are also offering an additional discount of 10-20 million VND to clear inventory of the 2022 VIN models.

When contacting a Mitsubishi dealer in Dong Nai, a sales consultant mentioned that in addition to the 50% registration fee discount program, customers who order the Mitsubishi Attrage in June will receive an additional discount of 20 million VND from the dealer, resulting in a price range of 350-450 million VND for the car.

Furthermore, this dealer is also offering a package of accessories worth 10 million VND for all Mitsubishi Attrage buyers, including a dashcam and floor mats. The current listed price of the Mitsubishi Attrage ranges from 380-490 million VND, making it one of the most affordable sedans in the Vietnamese market.

Compared to its rivals in the segment, the Suzuki Ciaz is offering lower discounts despite its low sales performance. Customers who purchase the Suzuki Ciaz will receive a complimentary comprehensive insurance package worth 10 million VND and a direct discount of 5 million VND, according to our survey.

However, a sales consultant at a Suzuki dealership in Hanoi stated that this is a dealer-specific promotion aimed at clearing inventory. Therefore, this offer only applies to 2022 production models.

While well-known models such as the Toyota Vios, Mitsubishi Attrage, and Kia Soluto are enjoying high discounts, the promotion for the Suzuki Ciaz is not as attractive in the current sluggish market conditions.

In the first month of Q2, only 4 units of this sedan model were sold, making it one of the 10 slowest-selling cars in the market.

Toyota Vios 2023: Registration Fee Promotion

At the beginning of Q2 this year, Vietnamese consumers were introduced to the Toyota Vios 2023 after a long wait. In June, this sedan model is also being offered promotions to compete with other models in the segment.

Specifically, Toyota Vietnam has announced a promotion of 50% off the registration fee for the Toyota Vios G and E, for both manual transmission (MT) and continuously variable transmission (CVT) variants, for all customers who place an order and complete payment before June 30.

When conversing with a sales consultant at a Toyota dealership in Ho Chi Minh City, they mentioned that the B-segment sedan is currently being offered discounts ranging from 10-20 million VND by the dealer. According to the sales consultant, customers who purchase the Toyota Vios will enjoy the combined benefits of both promotions, resulting in a lower price.

“In addition to the 50% registration fee discount announced by the manufacturer, customers who purchase the Toyota Vios will also receive an additional discount of 10-20 million VND from the dealer, as well as complimentary comprehensive insurance and genuine accessories,” shared the sales consultant.

In the new generation recently introduced in the Vietnamese market, the listed price of the Toyota Vios has been slightly adjusted for the E variants. Specifically, the Toyota Vios is currently listed at around 479-592 million VND. After applying the promotion, the on-road price of this sedan model will be around 486-598 million VND.
