Toyota Vietnam reports business results and highlights in 2023. Despite challenges in the automotive market, Toyota Vietnam has strived to enhance production and business activities while actively contributing to the community.
Business Results
In terms of sales, Toyota Vietnam achieved a sales volume of 59,207 vehicles in 2023 (including Lexus), bringing the total cumulative sales to over 916,000 vehicles. Notably, the Lexus brand achieved its highest sales volume since its launch, selling 1,793 vehicles and accumulating over 12,000 vehicles.
In terms of production, Toyota manufactured 26,426 vehicles in 2023, resulting in a total accumulated production of over 687,000 vehicles.
In terms of services, Toyota welcomed nearly 1.8 million customers, marking an 8% increase compared to 2022. The total number of vehicles utilizing authorized services surpassed 18 million.
Regarding export activities for Toyota’s components and spare parts, the revenue reached nearly $74 million, contributing to a total accumulated revenue of nearly $864 million (equivalent to 21,176 trillion VND).
With respect to the contribution to the state budget, Toyota contributed over $873 million, leading to a total contribution of over $13 billion (equivalent to 318.63 trillion VND).
Contributions to the Vietnamese Automotive Industry and Supporting Industries
Pursuing “Better Cars Every Day”
Recently, Toyota Vietnam’s plant received the Good Factory 2024 award from the Japan Management Association (JMA). This prestigious award recognizes factories that have achieved remarkable results in improving productivity, quality, and operations in Japan and Asia. Being the only plant outside of Japan to receive this award, it demonstrates the production quality of Toyota Vietnam, on par with factories in Japan and the region. The domestically assembled product range expanded, meeting Toyota’s global quality standards, and implementing efficient management methods.
In 2023, Toyota introduced new models across various segments, including Wigo, Yaris Cross, Innova Cross, and Alphard. Among them, 3 models offered Hybrid versions, bringing the total number of Toyota Hybrid models to 6.
Thanks to customer trust and acceptance, the Vios & Corolla Cross models consistently rank among the top 10 best-selling models in the market, with sales volumes of 13,521 and 10,485 vehicles respectively. The recently launched Yaris Cross recorded sales of 3,065 vehicles, averaging 1,022 vehicles per month. In December alone, Toyota had 3 models in the top 10 best-selling vehicles: Vios, Veloz Cross, & Yaris Cross, with Vios leading the market with 3,022 vehicles sold.
Actively Collaborating with Supporting Industries: Contributing to Automotive Industry Development
In 2023, Toyota continued its collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the fourth consecutive year to support the automotive supporting industry. The goal is to enhance capacity and strengthen the linkage between domestic supporting businesses and automobile assemblers, ultimately increasing localization rates. Toyota expanded its cooperation with the Vietnam Supporting Industries Association to further enhance this activity.
The supported businesses achieved positive results in reducing inventory and workshop areas, maximizing costs, increasing productivity, and improving the working environment for employees. TMV supported an additional 13 suppliers, bringing the total number of supported suppliers to 17.
The number of Toyota suppliers has reached 60, including 13 Vietnamese suppliers that offer over 1,000 localized products.
Advocating for “a Better Society”
Efforts towards Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050
Toyota has developed a Multi-Pathway approach aimed at reducing carbon emissions and offering diverse solutions suitable for different infrastructure conditions, industry status, and customer needs in different regions. Globally, Toyota provides various electrification solutions such as Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, Battery Electric Vehicles, Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles, and develops alternative energy options to save fuel, thereby meeting the diverse needs of customers.
In 2023, Toyota focused on developing a Hybrid product range of 6 models across various segments. Hybrid vehicle sales reached 2,639 vehicles, with a total cumulative sales of 8,474 vehicles, accounting for nearly 12% of the total sales of models with Hybrid versions.
Toyota collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company to implement the Efficient Research Project. This project focused on the application of biofuels in Vietnam’s transportation. Toyota considers Hybrid and biofuels as timely and appropriate solutions for Vietnam’s actual conditions, helping to immediately reduce CO2 emissions.
To achieve the goal of reducing emissions throughout the vehicle lifecycle, Toyota encourages its suppliers and dealers to implement CO2 reduction solutions. Additionally, Toyota carries out various environmental protection activities, fuel-saving initiatives, and community awareness and education programs. In 2023, the Toyota plant reduced 2,696 tons of CO2.
Maintaining Annual Social Contribution Activities
Aside from business production activities, Toyota continues to engage in annual social contribution activities in four areas: Traffic Safety, Environmental Protection, Social Culture, Education & Development of Human Resources. The aim is to bring a better life to the community. To date, Toyota’s total contribution to social activities has exceeded $30 million.
Aiming for the 30th anniversary in 2025, Toyota Vietnam, along with its dealer network, will continue to make efforts to overcome challenging periods, improve product and service quality, provide comprehensive mobility solutions for complete peace of mind, and maintain customer trust. Additionally, Toyota will strengthen its contributions to society for sustainable development and the prosperity of the country.

On April 21, 2022, Toyota Vietnam was honored to receive the Golden Dragon Award at the 21st annual Golden Dragon program. This year, Toyota Vietnam was recognized as one of the exemplary FDI enterprises driving green growth, marking the 20th consecutive year that Toyota Vietnam has been honored at the Golden Dragon Awards.
