At this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon exhibition, Honda showcased a range of models, including the Honda Civic RS. Despite being labeled as a concept car, the Honda Civic RS looks ready for production and could easily pass as a commercial car.

The Honda Civic RS is developed based on the Civic Hatchback but will be positioned below the high-performance Civic Type R when it hits the market. This model bridges the gap between the regular Civic Hatchback and the more powerful Civic Type R.
Displayed in its home country of Japan, the Honda Civic RS features a sleek black exterior that adds to its mystique and impressive appearance. The standout element of the car is the redesigned front bumper with sharper lines and narrower air vents on both sides. The red RS logo on the grille and tailgate creates a striking contrast with the exterior color.

The rest of the body and the alloy wheels of the Honda Civic RS remain unchanged from the standard Civic Hatchback. The wheels feature a sporty dual-spoke design and are coated in glossy black, providing a contrasting tone-on-tone effect with the exterior.

Honda has not released any information about the engine specifications for the Civic RS in the Japanese market yet. However, it is highly likely that the car will be equipped with a familiar 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, capable of producing a maximum power of 200 horsepower.
The engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, which is a notable feature since the current Honda Civic in the Japanese market only has a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

In addition, Honda promises that the Civic RS will deliver an exhilarating driving experience. It is expected that the model will undergo improvements in terms of chassis and suspension systems.
Furthermore, the Honda Civic RS is predicted to be equipped with a limited-slip differential, stiffer springs, upgraded shock absorbers, thicker stabilizer bars, and larger brakes compared to the standard Civic Hatchback.
According to the plan, the Honda Civic RS will be officially released in the Japanese market in the autumn of this year. This model offers a more affordable alternative for those who can’t wait for the Civic Type R. Honda had to suspend the acceptance of deposits for the Civic Type R in the Japanese market due to extended delivery times.
