Thanks to the exceptional performance of their flagship models like Accent and Creta, Hyundai has outperformed Toyota to become the top-selling car brand in Vietnam in 2023.

According to data compiled from VAMA and TC Motor, Hyundai sold a total of 57,683 vehicles (excluding commercial vehicles) in Vietnam in 2023, cementing its position as the best-selling brand in the entire market. The Hyundai Accent emerged as the best-selling model for the brand, with 17,452 vehicles sold, albeit a decrease of 14,132 units compared to 2022. Following closely behind is the Hyundai Creta with 10,719 vehicles sold. Other popular models from Hyundai, such as i10, Tucson, and Santa Fe, also enjoy steady sales and perform well in their respective segments.

In 2023, Hyundai introduced several new models across various segments, including Stargazer, Custin, and Palisade. These models have garnered significant attention from customers, providing a boost to the brand’s sales growth as the year reached its conclusion.

Toyota, on the other hand, slipped to second place with sales of only 57,414 vehicles, marking a substantial decrease of over 33,000 units compared to 2022. The company made efforts to introduce new models to the market in 2023, such as the Yaris Cross and Innova Cross. However, the inability to maintain the appeal of key models like the Vios and Corolla Cross as in previous years significantly impacted Toyota’s sales in Vietnam.

Kia holds the third position in the Vietnamese car market, selling 40,773 vehicles, a decrease of approximately 20,000 units compared to the previous year. Following Kia is Ford with sales of 38,063 vehicles. Mazda secures the fifth position with 35,632 vehicles sold.
