During the car license plate auction on January 13, 2024, many people were shocked when the license plate 30K-999.99 was auctioned for 75.275 billion VND, an unimaginable price. Additionally, the beautiful license plate 51K-999.99 is soon to be auctioned, and many people are curious if there will be another spectacular bidding battle.
Exactly one week after the auction of the license plate 30K-999.99, the auction company, Vietnam Auction Partnership, officially put the license plate 51K-999.99 up for online auction. The result was also impressive, although it fell far short of the amount for the license plate 30K-999.99.
Specifically, during the time period from 10:15am to 10:45am, the license plate 51K-999.99 was bid up to 20.56 billion VND by a wealthy individual. This price is higher than many popular SUVs on the market, such as the Bentley Bentayga V8, Mercedes-AMG G63 V1, Aston Martin DBX, Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 4Matic, or the Lamborghini Urus Performante super SUV.
According to the regulations, the person who wins the auction for the car license plate must pay the full amount within 15 days from the date of announcement of the results. This amount is deducted from the deposit amount (40 million VND), but does not include the vehicle registration fee.
Afterwards, within 12 months, the person who wins the auction for the license plate must register this plate for their vehicle. If the registration is not completed within the deadline, this beautiful license plate will be transferred to the registration and vehicle management system, and the winning bidder will not receive a refund of the auction amount paid.
Auctioning car license plates isn’t just about making money.
On the afternoon of October 11th, following discussions, the National Assembly Standing Committee reached an agreement to submit a Draft Resolution on piloting the granting of the right to choose automobile license plates through auctions to the National Assembly, with the aim of granting more authority to the Government.
