Baojun has expanded its product lineup with the introduction of the Yep Plus 5-door model and enhanced features for its electric crossover model. The car starts at $11,800 (approximately 290 million VND), as the joint venture between SAIC, Wuling, and GM of the United States aims to boost sales of small electric vehicles, which have recently shown signs of slowing down. In 2023, Baojun only sold 14,683 cars in the Chinese market.

Equipped with a 28.1 kWh battery pack, the standard Yep model can travel up to 303 km per charge, but it only has 67 horsepower and two doors. Although the battery pack size of the Yep Plus has not been disclosed, the new four-door crossover will offer a range of 401 km per charge.

To enhance performance, Baojun has upgraded the motor to generate 101 horsepower, enabling the car to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. Similar to the standard Yep, the Yep Plus features a boxy design and off-road capabilities, despite being designed for urban environments. With its two-tone paint job, the car bears some resemblance to the Ford Bronco Sport.

The Baojun Yep boasts a sleek design, ample ground clearance, and wide wheel arches, along with raised front and rear bumpers that give the car a rugged appeal. It comes equipped with LED headlights at the front and rear.Although details about the interior are still scarce, the Yep Plus will feature a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen and a gauge cluster with the same size display, adding more technological features to the car. However, the Yep Plus offers an optional rearview mirror, which includes a 360-degree camera.

The Yep Plus is expected to hit the Chinese market in the first quarter of 2024. While the price has not been revealed, Chinese media reports indicate that it will be around $11,800 (approximately 290 million VND).
