The Kia Telluride E-SUV surprises with a pre-tax excise price of nearly VND 2.7 billion.
The Ministry of Finance recently announced the excise tax rates for cars and motorcycles, applicable from November 6, 2023. In it, the fully imported E-SUV Kia Telluride with a 3.8L V6 petrol engine has a pre-tax excise price of VND 2.698 billion. Thus, based on the current tax schedule, the registration fee for the Kia Telluride is VND 322.68 million in Hanoi and VND 269.8 million in Ho Chi Minh City.

Currently, there is no specific information about the launch date of the Kia Telluride in the Vietnamese market. At the end of 2021, Thaco displayed the Telluride at its factory in Quang Nam province and announced that it would be available for sale by the end of 2022. However, the launch plan was later canceled.
The E-SUV segment in the Vietnamese market currently includes the Ford Explorer, Volkswagen Teramont, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, and Hyundai Palisade. Among them, the Palisade attracts customers’ attention due to its price not differing significantly from D-SUVs. Therefore, if the Kia Telluride is priced at nearly VND 2.7 billion, this SUV model may not achieve good sales in our country.
Along with the Kia Telluride, the list also reveals that the Suzuki Jimny has a pre-tax excise price of VND 789 million. This is also the price that many dealers accept deposits for this SUV model.

On the website of Suzuki Vietnam, official images of the Jimny have been released with the words “coming soon.” In addition, the car has also appeared at most dealerships nationwide in preparation for display and product introduction.
Providing power for the Suzuki Jimny in the Vietnamese market is a naturally aspirated 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 101 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque. Notably, the Suzuki Jimny is the only model in the small-size high-ground-clearance segment equipped with four-wheel drive, differential lock, multiple axle locking modes, and comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The pre-tax excise price list also reveals the expected prices of the Tesla Model S (VND 4.2 billion), Genesis G90 (VND 3.3-6.1 billion), Genesis GV80 (VND 2.69-4.759 billion), and Volvo C40 Recharge (VND 2.33 billion). Notably, although the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a selling price of VND 1.3-1.45 billion, the pre-tax excise price is as high as VND 1.8 billion.
