Mugen, the Japanese company renowned for its car modification expertise and sports cars, is set to unveil two distinctive modified versions of the Honda Civic Type R prototype at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon exhibition. These modified versions, named Type A and Type B, showcase Mugen’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of performance and design.

The first variant, the modified Civic Type R – A, boasts an even more aggressive aesthetic, with enhancements such as a striking front splitter, side air vents, and an updated rear diffuser. The overall look is complemented by a new spoiler and improved side doors, which add to the car’s visual appeal.

For those seeking an even more powerful driving experience, the second variant, the Civic Type R – B, offers a range of exciting upgrades. These include a carbon fiber hood with sporty air vents and additional air outlets on the bonnet to enhance aerodynamics. The wide side sills further accentuate the muscular appearance of the car, while the rear features a new spoiler and an upgraded rear diffuser. The combination of these design elements gives the Civic Type R a distinct “modified car” aesthetic, reminiscent of classic JDM Civic models from the early 2000s.

These modifications not only enhance the car’s appearance but also improve its performance. Mugen carefully calculates each change to ensure optimal aerodynamic performance.

But Mugen’s expertise doesn’t stop at the exterior. The company is also developing new performance parts for the Type R. The modification package includes a new suspension system, 19-inch forged wheels sourced from BBS, stainless steel exhaust (for Type A), titanium exhaust (for Type B), and new brake components. Inside, both variants feature a Mugen branded steering wheel, sport seats, a new gear shifter, and carbon fiber trims on the center console.

Mugen will reveal the pricing for these modification packages at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 exhibition.

Be prepared to be captivated by Mugen’s innovative take on the Honda Civic Type R prototype.
