Despite not being released yet, the first electric model of the Range Rover has received a huge number of orders, up to 16,000 orders.

Previously, in mid-December 2023, the UK-based car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced pre-orders for the all-electric version of the Range Rover.

The company also released the first teaser image of this model and stated that it will be the “quietest and most refined Range Rover ever built by JLR”.

Land Rover began developing the Range Rover Electric a few years ago and recently conducted testing in various regions around the world, from freezing winter conditions in Sweden to scorching heat in Dubai.

The brand is rigorously testing and evaluating the durability of the electric drivetrain system, battery, motor cooling capabilities, and body strength before officially launching this SUV model on the market.

JLR states that the Range Rover Electric will have performance equivalent to a V8-powered Range Rover, while also offering better towing, water wading, and off-road capabilities than any other electric SUV currently on the market.

The Range Rover Electric features the vertically-configured MLA modular architecture developed by JLR. This SUV model is designed, engineered, and manufactured in the UK, along with the current mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. Additionally, the battery and electric drivetrain will be manufactured and assembled at the company’s electric powertrain plant in Wolverhampton. The Range Rover Electric also features an 800-volt electrical architecture and fast charging capability. Similar to all Land Rover models on the market, this SUV also offers software update capabilities over-the-air.

In addition, the classic elements of the Land Rover brand are still preserved, including a luxurious cabin, minimalist design, and off-road capabilities, but it will have zero emissions.

It is known that the Range Rover Electric will be produced at the factory in Solihull, United Kingdom. The battery and electric drivetrain will be assembled at Jaguar Land Rover’s new electric powertrain plant in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

This model is expected to be a formidable rival to the BMW iX and the all-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
