At CES 2024, Mercedes-Benz has brought many modern technologies, but the highlight at the German luxury carmaker’s booth is the pure electric version of the G-Class.
Not only that, Mercedes-Benz also brings the EQG electric vehicle fleet to “enliven” the streets, demonstrating its 360-degree rotation capability at CES 2024.
Despite being disguised with decals, it is not difficult to recognize that this EQG model looks exactly like the petrol version, except for the closed front grille, square-shaped wheels, and removed rear exhaust pipe.
This can be seen as a safe move by Mercedes-Benz, as the design of the G-Class has always been highly regarded, even pioneering the “boxy SUV” trend. In addition, the EQG is also added with some details to enhance aerodynamics such as special cast wheels and small air vents on the rear fenders.
Currently, there is not much information about the EQG’s operating equipment, but Mercedes-Benz confirms that the car will have four electric motors with a total output of over 600 horsepower.
In addition, EQG also has a special function called G-Turn, which allows the car to rotate 360 degrees in place. This feature will come in handy in situations where maneuvering in tight spaces is necessary.
It is predicted that this electric SUV will have a range of over 500 km, charge up to 80% in less than 30 minutes, and possess all the advanced technologies of the EQ lineup.
It is expected that the car will be officially launched at the end of 2024. The G-Class lineup in the coming years will also be supplemented by a pure electric G-Class mini, but the exact launch time is yet to be announced.
