Ford has officially announced the mid-life upgrade of the 6th generation of the E-size SUV model – Explorer. This three-row SUV is not only refreshed in terms of appearance but also significantly improved in interior space and added modern features.
Compared to its predecessor, the exterior design of Ford Explorer 2025 has not changed much. The main changes are mainly concentrated in the front of the car with a larger grille, smaller LED headlights on both sides, and a refreshed air intake. The taillight design is inherited from the previous Explorer but with sharper graphics that extend to the tailgate. In addition, the company has also added a completely new color for the car, called Vapor Blue Metallic.
Ford has reduced the number of Explorer models from 8 to 4, including Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. In the future, this SUV will also have a Timberline version with upgrades focused on off-road capabilities.
Inside, Ford Explorer has many worthwhile upgrades. The 13.2-inch infotainment screen is placed horizontally and combined with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The car is integrated with the new “Ford Digital Experience” infotainment system developed by Google. This system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, voice commands via Google Assistant or Alexa Built-in. Customers can watch videos or play video games on the main screen, while the digital instrument cluster can display maps.
Ford also states that the company has improved the quality of the materials in the Explorer cabin. In addition, Ford equipped the car with wireless charging, 8 USB-C ports, and 3 12V outlets.
The 2025 Explorer is equipped with Co-Pilot360 Assist+ safety technology with Ford’s most advanced technologies. Not only that, the car also has the BlueCruise feature, which allows hands-off driving on highways.
The new Ford Explorer does not have a hybrid engine option. The Active, ST-Line, and Platinum versions are equipped with a 2.3L 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine, producing 300 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the ST version has a 3.0 V6 EcoBoost engine with a maximum power of 400 horsepower and a peak torque of 563 Nm. This version also has paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Both engine options come with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or 4WD.
