Tesla’s New Electric Car Expected to Have a Price of Approximately 600 Million VND, Launching Next Year

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk, confirmed in a financial conference call on January 24th that the company plans to start production of the next-generation electric vehicle at its Texas plant in the second half of 2025.

This electric crossover model is expected to have a starting price of around $25,000, significantly lower than the Model 3 (priced from $38,990). It will be one of Tesla’s main volume models in the future and a strategic card for the company to compete with BYD’s affordable electric vehicles.

Sources close to Tesla have revealed that “Redwood” is a highly promising project, allowing Tesla to gain a strong foothold in the increasingly crowded electric vehicle market. The key to the new crossover’s low price is the “third-generation electric vehicle platform,” which optimizes production costs. In the future, this new platform will be applied to robotaxis and replacement models for the Model 3 and Model Y.

Reuters reported that Tesla has notified its component suppliers that the production volume of the new electric crossover could reach 10,000 units per week, equivalent to about 500,000 units per year. Last year, Tesla produced a total of 1.85 million vehicles, a 35% increase compared to 2022. In May 2023, Elon Musk announced during a shareholder meeting that the company will introduce two new electric vehicle models with the potential to achieve a total sales volume of 5 million units per year.
