Kia has introduced the 2025 Carnival for the North American market at the Chicago Auto Show. The updated Carnival features upgraded technology, refined exterior, and a new hybrid powertrain. It is expected to be available for sale in the summer.
Notable exterior changes include a wider grille with reduced chrome accents, and amber daytime running lights, giving the Carnival 2025 a design similar to the Sorento.
Under the hood, the car is equipped with a 3.5L V6 GDI engine that generates 287 horsepower and 352 Nm of torque.
In addition, the car comes with an optional hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.6L turbocharged engine with a 54 kW electric motor and a six-speed automatic transmission. This hybrid powertrain produces a combined output of 242 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque.
The Carnival is equipped with 17-inch aerodynamic wheels, and features Eco/Smart mode and regenerative braking. However, fuel economy figures for the model have not yet been released.
Inside the cabin, the Carnival 2025 has also received some upgrades. It features a dual 12.3-inch display that serves as the instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen, which has been refined and now includes a compact screen for simplified climate control. Additionally, the car also comes with a new gear shifter.
The Carnival 2025 also features an voice-activated virtual assistant that can open windows or adjust the temperature in the cabin. The Kia virtual assistant can even differentiate between passengers in the first and second rows to meet their specific requirements, which is especially useful for SX Prestige models equipped with VIP Lounge Seat package.
In terms of entertainment, second-row passengers can also enjoy Kia’s new rear-seat entertainment system, which operates on a 14.6-inch screen and allows passengers to stream full HD content from popular platforms.
Owners can also unlock the car using their smartphone with the Digital Key 2 feature. Once the car is running, the driver will be supported by a range of latest technologies, including standard forward collision avoidance. New features include intersection collision avoidance, lane change assist, and lane following assist.
The 2025 Kia Carnival will go on sale in the US in the summer. The standard Carnival will be available in LX, LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims, while the Carnival HEV will be offered in LXS, EX, SX, and SX Prestige trims.
