After launching in the US, the Ford Explorer 2024 will continue to be introduced in many other markets, including Vietnam.
After its international debut in early February, the Ford Explorer 2024 was introduced to US customers at the Chicago Auto Show (held from February 10-19). Although there are 4 versions of the car, the company only displayed two high-end versions at the show, which are the ST and Platinum.
Compared to its predecessor, the exterior design of the Ford Explorer 2024 doesn’t have much difference. The main changes are focused on the front with a larger grille, smaller LED headlights on both sides, and revamped air intakes. The taillights inherit the design from the old Explorer but have sharper graphics and extend to the tailgate.
Ford has reduced the number of Explorer versions from eight to four, including Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. Versions like XLT, Timberline, Limited, and King Ranch are no longer available.
Contrary to the exterior, the interior of the Ford Explorer has been significantly upgraded, from the space arrangement to the equipment system. The center console features a 13.2-inch touchscreen that is raised, combined with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. The standard version is equipped with the “Ford Digital Experience” digital infotainment system that connects to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, supports voice control with Google Assistant or Alexa.
Ford also stated that the interior material quality of this 3-row SUV has been upgraded, and two wireless charging pads have been added to the center control cluster. The car has 8 USB-C ports and 3 12V sockets, ensuring continuous connectivity for users.
The Explorer 2024 is equipped with the Co-Pilot360 Assist+ advanced safety technology system from Ford. In addition, the car also has the BlueCruise feature, which allows hands-free driving on highways.
The new Ford Explorer does not have a hybrid engine version. The Active, ST-Line, and Platinum models are equipped with a 2.3L 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine, producing a power of 300 horsepower and a torque of 420 Nm. Meanwhile, the ST model has a 3.0 V6 EcoBoost engine with a maximum power of 400 horsepower and a peak torque of 563 Nm. This version also has shift paddles on the steering wheel. Both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or 4WD.
The Ford Explorer 2024 will be available in the US market in the second quarter of this year, with prices ranging from $41,220 to $56,800 (equivalent to 1-1.3 billion VND). Besides, Blue Oval also plans to distribute this model to many foreign markets, including Vietnam. According to some sources, the car sold in Vietnam will be the Platinum version. However, this information has not been confirmed by Ford Vietnam.
