For many people, it may seem crazy that a Vietnamese billionaire is taking his limited edition Porsche 911 Dakar 2023 on a 35,000 km off-road adventure through the borders of China, Mongolia, and Laos before returning to Vietnam. However, it is precisely this 3-month journey that has attracted special attention from the online community.
It is known that the owner of the Porsche 911 Dakar 2023 is N.H.A, a businessman in the shipping and transportation industry. Interestingly, besides this limited edition sports car, the Hanoi tycoon also owns a very special car collection. One of the cars in his collection, recently unveiled, is the Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition convertible sports car.
The Journey Back to Vietnam
Thirteen years ago, the Mercedes Fascination Motorshow was held at the Giang Vo exhibition center in Hanoi, from June 9 to June 12, 201, showcasing dozens of luxury car models, including many new features. The Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition was one of the brightest stars.
The special edition Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition is said to be the only one of its kind in Vietnam, and it has remained with its owner for over a decade despite its mysterious disappearance.
Recently, this mysterious Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition convertible sports car has reappeared. The reason for this is that the owner has just registered a new license plate for the car, a license plate that carries significant meaning for this rare model in the Vietnamese market.
The Meaning of the New License Plate for the Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition
Initially, the Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition convertible sports car owned by the owner of the Porsche 911 Dakar had the license plate 51A-422.84.
And currently, the car has the license plate 51L-350.98. According to research, the license plate 51L-350.98 was only put up for auction on January 18, 2024, between 16:30 and 17:00, and only one person showed interest and registered for the auction. As a result, the license plate 51L-350.98 was auctioned for 40 million VND.
Features of the Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition
The Mercedes-Benz SL350 is an already exciting convertible sports car, and it becomes even more thrilling with the Night Edition. First, there is the matte black Magno paint, which aligns perfectly with the name of this version and gives the car a stunning stealthy finish.
The company explained that the special effect is achieved by using a semi-gloss paint layer, which is the final layer applied to the car. This must be mixed and developed specifically for each engine type and color it is applied to. This process is more challenging and time-consuming compared to a glossy paint finish, but the results speak for themselves.
Other nighttime-inspired updates include darkened headlight bezels, tail lights, and trunk brake light covers. The Night Edition emblem on the front side panels, 19-inch AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels, and silver-colored brake calipers with the three-pointed star logo are the exterior changes.
Inside the cabin, black is once again the dominant color. The Nappa leather seats are specially designed with the Night Edition emblem and silver-colored arrow-shaped stitching.
The aluminum trim on the central control panel and door panels enhances the elegant atmosphere, while the Mercedes-Benz Airscarf system, with its silver-colored vents visible through the headrests, means there is no reason not to go topless. Specifically, when lowering the convertible top and driving in cold weather, simply press a button on the dashboard to activate this function, and the vents on the seats will blow warm air to keep users warm.
Powertrain
The Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces a maximum power of 302 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm at 3,500 rpm.
Paired with a 7G Tronic automatic transmission, the engine enables the Mercedes-Benz SL350 Night Edition to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
