In late January 2024, Suzuki officially introduced the 5-door Jimny in the Philippines market. Now, at the IIMS 2024 exhibition, the Japanese automaker continues to showcase this compact SUV to customers in Indonesia.

In the Indonesian market, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door is available in 4 versions with prices ranging from 462 to 478.6 million Rupiah (approximately 720 – 746 million VND). Therefore, this model has a price similar to the 5-door Jimny in the Philippines, and it is cheaper than the speculated price of the 3-door version in Vietnam. The 3-door Suzuki Jimny in Vietnam is expected to have a starting price of 789 million VND. If the car is equipped with a body kit similar to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the price will increase to 999 million VND.

Compared to the model in the Philippines, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door for Indonesia does not have any differences in terms of design and technical specifications. The car has dimensions of 3,820 x 1,645 x 1,720 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase length of 2,590 mm. Compared to the 3-door version, this model is longer by 170 mm, while the wheelbase is increased by 340 mm.

In addition, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door also has a ground clearance of 210 mm, a minimum turning radius of 5.7 m, an approach angle of 36 degrees, a departure angle of 24 degrees, and a ramp breakover angle of 47 degrees. These parameters promise impressive off-road capabilities for this SUV, which is known as the “mini Mercedes-Benz G-Class”.

Except for the increased size and the addition of 2 side doors, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door does not change much in terms of design compared to the 3-door version. To make it easier for users to distinguish, Suzuki has equipped the Jimny 5-door with a chrome-plated grille.

Similar to the 3-door version, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door also has round headlights, a grille with vertical slats, fog lights on the front bumper, prominent fender flares, 15-inch alloy wheels, 195/80R15 tires, a rear bumper integrated with taillights, and a spare tire mounted on the tailgate.

Inside the car, it still offers a 2-row seating layout with 4 seats like the 3-door Suzuki Jimny. However, the luggage compartment volume has increased to 211 liters when using both rows of seats. If users want to increase the luggage compartment volume to 332 liters, they can fold the rear seats in a 50:50 ratio.

In the Indonesian market, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door is equipped with features such as fabric seats, an analog instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity, and automatic air conditioning.

Under the hood of this SUV is a 1.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine, with a maximum power of 105 hp and a peak torque of 136 Nm, similar to the 3-door version. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 4-wheel drive system (AllGrip Pro). The car’s drivetrain has 3 modes: 2H (2WD High), 4H (4WD High), and 4L (4WD Low).

It is still unclear whether the Suzuki Jimny 5-door will be sold in Vietnam after the Philippines and Indonesia. Currently, the 3-door Suzuki Jimny has not been officially launched in Vietnam and is expected to debut in March this year.
