In the first quarter of 2024, Kawasaki introduced an updated version of the KLX230 S and KLX230 SM models. In addition to the usual changes in paint color and sticker design each year, these small-sized dirt bikes have also been upgraded in terms of equipment and suspension system.

First, let’s take a look at the dual-sport model Kawasaki KLX 230 S 2024. Providing power to the KLX230 S model is a single-cylinder engine, with a displacement of 233cc, air-cooled. The maximum torque of the bike is 18 Nm at 6,400 rpm and the engine is combined with a 6-speed transmission.

The most notable upgrade in the 2024 version of the Kawasaki KLX230 S is the redesigned rear subframe. As a result, the rear wheel travel is longer, but the rider can still easily reach the ground. The aluminum rear subframe of the KLX230 S has been adjusted to reduce weight by 1.2 kg compared to the previous generation.

In addition, the wheelbase of the Kawasaki KLX 230 S 2024 has also increased to 1,364 mm and the ground clearance has increased to 240 mm. The suspension system still uses 37mm telescopic front forks with 200mm of travel and a single rear shock Uni-Trak with 226mm of travel that can be adjusted for load. The seat height of the bike is 843 mm and the wet weight is 133 kg.

In addition, the Kawaski KLX230 S is equipped with an LCD screen that can be connected to a smartphone through the Kawasaki Rideology app. In addition, the fuel tank covers and plastic body details have also been redesigned.

Similar to the KLX230 S model, the Kawasaki KLX 230 SM 2024 also receives the same rear subframe adjustments and sporty characteristics. For the suspension system, the front fork of the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 SM has been upgraded to 37mm USD forks with 188mm of travel instead of the telescopic forks on the S version, and the rear Uni-Trak shock with 220mm of travel is the same as the dual-sport variant.

However, the shock absorber’s internal spring of the supermoto version has been adjusted to be stiffer to provide stability when riding on flat roads. In addition, the footpegs of the KLX 230 SM are also equipped with rubber padding to increase grip. The bodywork of the Kawasaki KLX 230 SM 2024 is redesigned to resemble the S version, but many details on the bike are painted black to create a more aggressive look, including the fork, shock, frame, exhaust shield, and wheel pair.

The Kawasaki KLX 230 SM 2024 is equipped with a single-cylinder engine, with a displacement of 233cc, air-cooled, producing a maximum torque of 18 Nm at 6,400 rpm through a 6-speed transmission. In addition, the SM variant is upgraded to LED headlights and an LCD screen that can be connected to a smartphone through the Kawasaki Rideology app.

In Vietnam, the previous versions of the Kawasaki KLX230 S and KLX230 SM are officially distributed with prices starting from 151 million VND. According to the information I have gathered, currently, apart from the official distribution of the KLX230, there are no other dirt bike models in this segment. Therefore, this can be considered an advantage of Kawasaki’s dirt bike models.
