Chery is one of the giants in the automotive industry in China, and in order to avoid falling behind, the company continuously innovates by launching many sub-brands, targeting different segments of the car market, whether it be mass-market or high-end.
In this issue, the iCAR 03 product unveiled last year has garnered a lot of excitement from the Chinese people. However, it wasn’t until yesterday evening, February 28, 2024, that Chery fulfilled its mission by launching the Chery iCAR 03.
How many versions of the Chery iCAR 03 were launched?
On February 28th, Chery officially revealed the iCAR 03, with a total of 6 new models being introduced at prices ranging from 109,800 Chinese yuan to 169,800 Chinese yuan, equivalent to 356 million dong to 555 million dong.
The pricing above shows that the lowest version of the Chery iCAR 03 is priced on par with the Hyundai Grand i10, and the highest version is comparable to the Hyundai Accent AT or the Toyota Vios. Chery has entered the Vietnamese market under its sub-brand, so it is highly likely that the iCAR 03 will soon be introduced to the local market.
Speaking briefly about the Chery iCAR 03, the car has a “square box” shape and is positioned as a “stylish box-shaped electric SUV,” exuding a strong off-road vibe. In terms of power, the new car comes in both single-motor and dual-motor variants, with a range of 401-501 km. In addition, at the event location, the company also showcased modified versions, providing users with some personalized modification options for reference.
New car features
From the exterior, the Chery iCAR 03 has a very angular shape, a design style that is currently popular in the luxury SUV market. The rounded lines on the car are almost invisible, creating a more powerful impression.
The front is equipped with very recognizable headlights, and the arrangement of the internal light sources of the Chery iCAR 03 is also unique. In addition, the new car is equipped with a large front mudguard, further enhancing the front’s imposing presence. It is worth noting that the Chery iCAR 03 will use an all-aluminum multi-cavity body structure.
The side design highlights the “square box” look, with a square and solid shape and sharp lines. Looking at the details, the precise window frames, angular corners, and protruding wheel eyebrows showcase a Hardcore style. Additionally, the car features a suspension roof design.
In terms of size, the length, width, and height of the Chery iCAR 03 are 4,406mm, 1,910mm, and 1,715mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,715mm.
In terms of wheels, the Chery iCAR 03 will be available in two options: 18-inch and 19-inch rims. In terms of exterior color options, the new car will come in 6 colors, including Sure White, True Black, A Little Grey, True Silver, My Good Blue, and Not Banana Green.
At the rear, there is a classic “small schoolbag” cluster that matches the vertically arranged taillights, creating a good visual impact with the brand’s logo. In addition, the rear mudguard of the new car is also quite large, resembling the front mudguard to some extent. The rear door of the new car is designed to open to one side and is equipped with an electric suction function.
Exciting features inside the cabin
The interior of the Chery iCAR 03 has a straight T-shaped layout, with clear edges and corners, simple and solid, and the materials used are more sophisticated. The combination of the 9.2-inch LCD display + 15.6-inch central control screen is eye-catching and comes with built-in WeChat ecosystem, games, karaoke, as well as sound and video.
It can be seen that the central control panel of the car is thicker than that of ordinary family cars, which also makes the central control panel appear less slim in its simple design.
The Chery iCAR 03 also uses crystal buttons and an encoded glove box, while the 4-zone voice system can control most functions on the car. This year, the car will offer four OS upgrades, and many functions will be repeated via OTA.
In terms of configuration, in addition to the previously leaked information, all new cars meet the standards for automatic headlights, automatic windshield wipers, exterior storage compartment, roof rack, electronic parking brake, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, tire pressure monitoring, ESP, 15.6-inch central control screen, and 8 speakers…
The mid-range models additionally come with folding rearview mirrors, a panoramic sunroof measuring 1.2 square meters, NFC key, wireless charging 50W, panoramic image, power-adjustable trunk, 8155 chip, new car recording…
Finally, the premium Chery iCAR 03 model will have even better features, including heated steering wheel, heated seats, memory function, 6-way power-adjustable passenger seat, side curtain airbags, Yanfei Lishi 12 speakers, 64-color interior ambient lighting, massage and ventilation for the driver’s seat, power-adjustable footrest for passenger, DJI Smart unmanned driving, and more.
Additionally, the Chery iCAR 03 will also provide a high-end advanced level 2+ intelligent driving assist system, with itinerary memory, high-speed NOA, intelligent parking assist, and other functions.
Powertrain
In terms of power, the Chery iCAR 03 is available with both single-motor and dual-motor options. The single-motor version has a maximum power output of 135 kW (184 hp) and a maximum torque of 220 Nm, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version has a maximum power output of 205 kW (279 hp) and a maximum torque of 385 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
The dual-motor model uses the intelligent 4WD iWD system, which can provide various driving modes to meet different driving situations. The chassis adopts a hydraulic lining tube structure + multi-link H-arm.
In terms of battery life, the Chery iCAR 03 offers 3 options: 401 km, 472 km, and 501 km, allowing users to travel long distances with peace of mind, as a typical day of driving is usually around 300 km to 350 km before taking a reasonable rest.
