Kawasaki has officially introduced the duo of electric motorcycles Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 2024. Prior to this, both models were showcased at the EICMA Milan 2023 Motorcycle Exhibition (Italy).
Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 are developed based on the frame of Ninja 400 and Z400. The electric motorcycle models retain the steel frame and rear grab handle like the prototypes. The overall design remains unchanged, with the Japanese motorcycle manufacturer only replacing the combustion engine with an electric drivetrain.
Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 will share the same 5 kW electric motor. This motor has a peak power output of up to 9 kW, but it will only be achieved for a limited time.
The electric motorcycles have 2 riding modes: Eco and Road. The bikes feature an acceleration button that temporarily increases power and top speed.
In Eco mode, the bike has a lower power output and is limited to a speed of 64 km/h, but it can reach a speed of 76 km/h in acceleration mode (also known as the E-Boost feature). The Road mode offers a higher speed, at 88 km/h, but it can accelerate up to 105 km/h.
Both Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 models will use removable 1.5 kWh batteries, providing a total power of 3 kWh. The ability to remove the batteries makes it more convenient for users to charge the bikes and allows for flexibility in choosing charging locations.
Kawasaki stated that both bikes can achieve a range of 66 km in Road mode without using the E-Boost feature. The Japanese manufacturer did not disclose the measured speed when traveling that distance, but based on the data, the average speed is around 56 km/h.
These electric motorcycles not only impress with their performance but also come equipped with many modern technologies, such as a 4.3-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity. Owners can easily connect their phones to the bikes to adjust settings and monitor performance.
In terms of safety equipment, the electric duo has single disc brakes on both wheels and a 2-channel ABS system, along with 17-inch cast wheels.
In the US, the Ninja e-1 will have a price of $7,599 (equivalent to 187.3 million VND), while the Z e-1 will be priced at $7,299 (equivalent to 179.9 million VND).
