According to Drive, Kia Australia has confirmed that the hybrid version of the Carnival will be available at local dealerships by the end of the year. Previously, Australian customers were unable to purchase this model as the Carnival Hybrid was only produced with left-hand drive.
The exact release date of the Kia Carnival hybrid version has not yet been confirmed. However, Kia has revealed that this version will be introduced a few months after the gasoline and V6 turbocharged diesel engine versions of the Kia Carnival are available in showrooms, expected in March.
Kia Australia Executive Director Roland Rivero stated that the Kia Carnival hybrid version will soon be available in the Australian car market.
“The number of Carnival hybrid models will be extremely limited. If customers have not appreciated the supply of the Kia Sorento hybrid version in Australia, they will have a similar perception with the Kia Carnival hybrid version, and it may even be worse,” said Roland Rivero.
According to the disclosure from Rivero, the hybrid engine option will only appear on the Platinum version of the Kia Carnival, which already has a listed price of $71,890 when equipped with a diesel engine. According to Drive, the price of an hybrid engine car may be more expensive than the gasoline or diesel variant.

In South Korea, the hybrid version of the Kia Carnival is equipped with a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine combined with an electric motor, with only the front-wheel drive option. Meanwhile, the hybrid version of the Kia Sorento in South Korea offers customers the choice between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The new generation Kia Carnival in Australia will still apply the latest design language of the Korean automaker, combined with the ccNC infotainment system and the ability to connect with the car through the Kia Connect application. In the high-end versions, the driver’s compartment of the Kia Carnival will have a curved dual-screen measuring 12.3 inches, stretching from behind the steering wheel to the center dashboard.
The technical specifications and prices of the new generation Kia Carnival in Australia have not yet been disclosed. The Korean automaker will announce these details when the release date of the MPV model is approaching.
