Ford has recently unveiled an upgraded version of the Explorer, but that hasn't stopped digital artist Kelsonik from creating their own unique concept design of the 2025 Explorer, drawing inspiration from the iconic Mustang.

The Ford Explorer 2025 facelift was launched in early February 2024 and overall, the mid-cycle upgrade of this SUV model looks quite attractive. However, it certainly doesn’t reach the level of being sexy or alluring. Instead, it has a rugged and sturdy appearance. Have you ever wondered what the new Explorer would look like if it took inspiration from the seventh-generation Mustang?

Recently, digital artist Kelsonik created a concept rendering for the Explorer facelift based on the Mustang. The front end of this 2025 Explorer stands out from the standard version thanks to new headlights inspired by the Mustang. This narrower and more powerful headlight cluster gives it a sportier look compared to the standard 2025 Explorer.

In addition, the car features a new grille and redesigned air intakes similar to those of the Mustang. Even on the hood, there are air vents to cool the engine bay.

We particularly like the wheels on this 2025 Explorer in the concept rendering. The 5-spoke design with black and silver details is wrapped in slim tires.

The standard version of the Ford Explorer 2025, which was launched in early February 2024, retains the same powertrain as its predecessor. It is equipped with a 2.3L 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine producing 300 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque for the Active, ST-Line, and Platinum trims. The ST trim, on the other hand, is equipped with a 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine that produces 400 horsepower and a maximum torque of 563 Nm. The V6 engine is more powerful than the one available on the Platinum trim.

All trim levels come with a revised 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or optional 4WD. The ST trim also adds steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Meanwhile, the Explorer Hybrid is no longer part of the Explorer 2025 lineup.

The first batch of Ford Explorer 2025 is expected to arrive at dealerships in the U.S. in the second quarter of this year with a starting price of $41,220 (including destination fees), which is an increase of $2,765 compared to the previous model.
