The D-segment sedan is no longer popular in Vietnam as it used to be. This, coupled with the overall sluggish market situation, has caused the sales of most D-segment sedans in February 2024 to plummet. The only model that saw an increase in sales in the past month is the Honda Accord.

RANK MODEL February 2024 January 2024 Sales Growth Rate Year-To-Date 2024

Sales Chart of D-Segment Sedans in February 2024 (in units)

Toyota Camry: 81 units

In February 2024, no D-segment sedan recorded sales of more than 100 units. With sales of 81 units, a decrease of 21.3% compared to the previous month, the Toyota Camry still leads the segment in terms of sales.

Toyota Camry

In recent years, the Toyota Camry has consistently been the most popular D-segment sedan in Vietnam despite its relatively high price range of 1.105 to 1.495 billion VND for 4 variants. The attraction of this model lies in its beautiful and elegant design, spacious and well-equipped interior, and strong brand reputation.

In addition, this model offers a total of 3 engine options. The first is a 2.0L gasoline engine with a maximum power of 170 horsepower and a maximum torque of 206 Nm, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Next is a 2.5L gasoline engine, producing a maximum power of 207 horsepower and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Lastly, there is the hybrid powertrain with a gasoline engine, electric motor, and CVT, generating a total output of 264 horsepower.

Furthermore, this Japanese car model is equipped with modern safety features such as lane-keeping assist, emergency automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, and intelligent headlights. The premium versions of the car also have 8 sensors and a 360-degree camera.

Mazda6: 18 units

The second-place D-segment sedan in February 2024 is still the Mazda6. However, compared to the Toyota Camry, the Mazda6 had significantly lower sales, reaching only 18 units, a decrease of 64%. This modest result puts the Mazda model on the list of the 10 worst-selling cars in the market.

Mazda6

The Mazda6 is currently the cheapest D-segment sedan in the market, with prices ranging from 779 to 914 million VND. In addition to its attractive price, this model also has a beautiful exterior design, comfortable interior, and a variety of convenient and safe features. However, the car still cannot surpass the Toyota Camry in terms of sales.

Some notable safety features of the Mazda6 in Vietnam include blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive LED headlights, lane departure warning, radar-integrated cruise control, collision warning, smart front/rear brake support, lane-keeping assist, driver attention alert, and smart brake support (SBS).

Under the hood of the Mazda6, there are two engine options: the SkyActiv-G 2.0 and SkyActiv-G 2.5 gasoline engines, both paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0L engine produces a maximum power of 154 horsepower and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. The corresponding figures for the 2.5L engine are 188 horsepower and 252 Nm.

Kia K5: 16 units

February 2024 was also an unsuccessful period for the Kia K5, as this Korean model only achieved sales of 16 units, a decrease of 52.9% compared to the previous month. Similarly to the Mazda6, the Kia K5 made it into the top 10 worst-selling cars in the market last month. This is a rare occurrence with 2 cars appearing on this list.

Kia K5

Like the Mazda6, the Kia K5 also has the advantage of a competitive price, ranging from 859 to 999 million VND. Moreover, the car has a youthful, fashionable, and sporty design. The Kia K5 is also equipped with various conveniences such as exterior LED lighting, power-adjustable memory driver’s seat and power-adjustable passenger seat, head-up display, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen display, 12-speaker Bose sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, remote engine start, and wireless phone charging.

When purchasing the Kia K5, Vietnamese customers can choose between two engine options. The first is the 2.0L Nu MPI gasoline engine, which delivers a maximum power of 150 horsepower and a maximum torque of 192 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second option is the 2.5L Theta-III GDi engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission, producing a maximum power of 191 horsepower and a maximum torque of 246 Nm. The car has front-wheel drive.

Honda Accord: 12 units

Once again, the last position in the D-segment sedan category belongs to the Honda Accord. However, unlike the above-mentioned competitors, this Japanese model saw a growth in sales. Specifically, the Honda Accord sold 12 units in February 2024, an increase of 50%. Unfortunately, the low sales volume of the car prevented it from achieving a higher ranking.

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord in Vietnam is available in only one variant, with a listed price of up to 1.319 billion VND. This is the reason why the car consistently appears on the list of the 10 worst-selling cars in the market every month. In March 2024, Honda is continuing to offer a 50% reduction in registration fee and 1 year of comprehensive insurance for the Accord.

Despite the high price tag, the Honda Accord still has advantages such as a spacious interior and excellent driving experience in its segment. The car is equipped with a turbocharged 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine, which produces a maximum power of 188 horsepower and a maximum torque of 260 Nm. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Eco and Sport driving modes.

The safety features of the Honda Accord are also on par with its competitors, including collision mitigation brake system, low-speed follow, adaptive automatic headlights, lane keeping assist system, and lane departure warning system.
