Koenigsegg Regera Hypercar: A Carbon Fiber Masterpiece in Vietnam

With a price tag of over $1.9 million, the Koenigsegg Regera is a hypercar that commands attention. With only 80 units produced, the model has consistently appreciated in value. Its discerning clientele demands exceptional paintwork, ranging from striking colors to extravagant bare carbon fiber or even colored carbon fiber, which enhances the Regera’s captivating aesthetics.

Vietnamese entrepreneur Hoang Kim Khanh proudly owns one of these coveted hypercars, which arrived in the country on April 6, 2024. Painted in a rare carbon fiber red, the car’s exterior requires meticulous care and often relies on specialized garages that cater to exotic vehicles.

However, during this particular occasion, the Regera’s arrival in Nha Trang necessitated a quick solution to remove accumulated dirt and dust. Without immediate access to professional detailing services, Khanh’s staff resorted to a more hands-on approach.

Witness Hoang Kim Khanh’s Koenigsegg Regera Cleaned with Just a Towel, Worrying Experts

After the car’s arrival at the event location, a member of Khanh’s entourage proceeded to use a large yellow towel to wipe down the exterior. From the front to the sides and rear, including the carbon fiber wheels, the same towel was used, with the intention of achieving a pristine finish. However, this method raised concerns among experts.

Using a single towel on carbon fiber paintwork can potentially introduce scratches, especially from abrasive particles like sand or dust. Moreover, the wheels, which accumulate more dirt and debris, were also cleaned with the same towel. However, there is a possibility that the Regera may have been fully covered with a protective film, mitigating the risk of surface damage.

Khanh acquired the Koenigsegg Regera from a specialized dealership in the United States, where it was priced at $2.9 million. The hypercar was subsequently imported to Cambodia, where it remained for nearly half a year while undergoing registration procedures. In January 2022, the vehicle was transported through the Tay Ninh border crossing before being driven to Khanh’s residence.

Unfortunately, two months after its arrival, the Koenigsegg Regera developed severe battery and electrical system malfunctions, rendering it inoperable. Khanh had the hypercar temporarily exported to Sweden before re-importing it to Cambodia. This marked the first time the vehicle was showcased in Vietnam, making an appearance at a supercar event in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province.

The Koenigsegg Regera employs a hybrid powertrain, combining a 5.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with three electric motors. This configuration generates an astonishing 1,500 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque, propelling the hypercar from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 400 km/h. At 250 km/h, the Regera generates 450 kg of downforce.
