Modest in appearance and outdated in cabin design, Toyota Rush fails to ignite passion in young drivers. Nevertheless, it appeals to those who prioritize simplicity, reliability, and longevity.

Toyota Rush was officially distributed in Vietnam in 2018, at the same time as Mitsubishi Xpander. However, Mitsubishi’s 7-seater MPV quickly dominated the market, made a name for itself, and left its rivals in the sales race, including Toyota Rush.

Currently, the Toyota Rush model is no longer distributed by the manufacturer, but Rush is always of interest to users in the used car market. The reason for this is the durability, fuel economy of the 1.5-liter engine, the 7-seater space, and the strong brand reputation of Toyota in Vietnam which have won over many customers.

In terms of design, the front of the Toyota Rush has a simple design, with rounded lines and no embellishments. The car uses conventional LED headlights, without the cornering balance feature like the current Yaris Cross. The lines on the body and rear of the car are also simple, the trunk is not an electric trunk, and this feature is similar to that of the Xpander of the same generation.

The amenities in the Toyota Rush are not very impressive, most of the features are mechanically controlled such as the driver’s and passenger’s seats being manually adjusted. The car does not have a center armrest, which makes the driver quite tired when driving long distances. The buttons integrated on the steering wheel control basic tasks, the car does not have cruise control while the Xpander has been equipped with this feature since 2018.

The entire dashboard of the car is covered in imitation leather, although it is not very beautiful, it is very easy to clean. The spaciousness and comfort for the occupants in the 3 rows of seats, the Toyota Rush does not provide as pleasant an experience as the Mitsubishi Xpander.

The entertainment system in the car is simple, with a 7-inch entertainment screen and a not very eye-catching interface. The safety technologies on the Toyota Rush are just enough to use but do not have active safety systems like the B-class SUV models nowadays. Toyota equips the Rush with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), traction control, hill start assist, 6 airbags.

The gearbox is a 4-speed automatic but has an L mode for steep slopes. With a rear-wheel drive system, the Toyota Rush is better at carrying heavy loads than the Mitsubishi Xpander, especially on hairpin bends and dirt roads. The 1.5-liter engine is not very powerful but is sufficient for overtaking, and this is also the engine configuration used by many car models in the current B-class SUV segment.

The selling price for the 2020 Toyota Rush currently ranges from 525-535, slightly higher than the Mitsubishi Xpander of the same year (522-530 million). It should be known that at the time of its launch, the Toyota Rush was listed at VND 668 million, while the Mitsubishi Expander cost only VND 630 million. Obviously, the Xpander holds its value better and is more popular, but the Rush is also popular with some users.
