After almost a year of returning to the market, the Toyota Hilux pickup truck model is about to be supplemented with another version in Vietnam. The Japanese automaker said the vehicle line is expected to receive a 2024 upgrade in the second quarter of this year.
Toyota Hilux will have 3 versions including 4×2 MT, 4×2 AT and 4×4 AT Adventure. At the present time, this pickup truck model is only being sold with a single 4×2 AT version, with a price tag of VND 852 million.
The two versions 4×2 AT and 4×2 MT will share a 2.4L diesel engine, producing 148 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. Meanwhile, the 4×4 AT Adventure version is equipped with a 2.8L diesel engine, delivering 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
In the 2024 model, the Hilux’s design has been slightly adjusted for the front bumper. Toyota Vietnam shared the expected selling price of the Hilux 2024 from VND 668 million. The starting price of the Toyota Hilux is on par with the Ford Ranger (from VND 665 million), slightly higher than other rivals such as the Mazda BT-50 (from VND 554 million), Mitsubishi Triton (from VND 650 million) and Isuzu D- Max (from VND 650 million).
Summarizing 2023, the Hilux is the lowest-selling model of Toyota Vietnam with 134 units delivered to customers. Meanwhile, the rival Ranger recorded sales of 16,085 units, accounting for 46.6% of Ford’s sales last year (34,461 units).
