The 2025 Kia K4 is the Forte replacement and it rides on a new platform and utilizes the new Opposites United design language. The US-spec Kia K4 will be offered to customers with a choice of two gasoline-powered engines. The base mill will be a naturally aspirated 2.0L producing 147 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, identical to the outgoing 2024 Forte. Power is sent to the front wheels through an “Intelligent Variable Transmission.”
The other option is a turbocharged 1.6L with 190 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. That’s down slightly from the current Forte’s optional 1.6 turbo, which makes 205 hp, but torque remains the same. Turbocharged models also benefit from an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Beyond the requisite GT-Line cosmetic upgrades, which include 18-inch wheels, gloss black accents and a satin chrome beltline, the K4 rides on a multi-link rear suspension that should make a meaningful difference in handling and comfort. Models equipped with the larger 18-inch wheels will also get sound-absorbing tires to reduce road noise, while all K4s will feature acoustic windshield glass.
Kia is making an effort to up its safety game and says the K4’s active safety features are class-leading. The K4 will come standard with lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control and forward collision avoidance. Optional is Evasive Steering Assist, which can “assist” the driver’s steering inputs to mitigate a collision by steering the car into an open space if it detects an imminent impact. There are 29 ADAS features available on the K4 in total, while passive safety features include eight standard airbags.
Design-wise, the K4 wears a sporty fastback-style roofline that doesn’t impinge on interior space. Interior features include wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, while NFC-enabled smart devices like phones or watches can be used to unlock and start the K4. A “Hey Kia” voice assistant is standard, and there’s an emphasis on increasing processing power and adding over-the-air updates, technology borrowed from the EV9.
The 2025 Kia K4 will reach U.S. customers in the second half of 2024 and will come with a 10-year/100,000-mile warranty. Pricing will be announced closer to its showroom arrival.
