Lamborghini Urus Plug-in Hybrid Teased Ahead of Beijing Auto Show Debut
Ahead of its debut at the Beijing Auto Show, Lamborghini has released a series of teaser videos of its forthcoming Urus Plug-in Hybrid. While the automaker hasn’t said so on social media, the electrified test vehicle has been spied wearing an electrified warning label.
More tellingly, the Volkswagen Group has confirmed that “the Lamborghini PHEV model will make its global debut at the Group Media Night” on April 24. It will be revealed alongside five other global debuts, including the Audi Q6 L e-tron and a Volkswagen concept car.
Lamborghini isn’t saying much at this point, but suggests the electrified crossover will deliver “endless emotion.” That may sound like marketing hyperbole, but the model has been spied testing on public roads multiple times.
As such, we know the plug-in hybrid powertrain will be joined by styling tweaks. The prototype has been spotted with a new front bumper and updated headlights. Changes will extend inside, as the crossover will get a revised dashboard and a larger infotainment system, along with new switchgear, revised trim and an additional screen lower down.
Power will come from a plug-in hybrid system expected to be similar to the one in the Porsche Cayman Turbo E-Hybrid, featuring a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, a 25.9 kWh battery pack, and an electric motor. This setup allows the German model to produce a combined 729 hp (544 kW) and 948 Nm (701 lb-ft) of torque.
That’s significantly more than the current model’s 657 hp (490 kW), and allows the Porsche to accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h).
