Kia’s first-ever pickup truck, the Kia Tasman, has just been teased with a unique camouflage inspired by Australia. This special design highlights the rugged and adventurous landscape of Tasmania, the southernmost island state of Australia, which also serves as the namesake for Kia’s debut pickup.
The camouflage features a series of elements that reflect the Tasmanian environment, emphasizing the vehicle’s connection to the island’s unique terrain and pioneering spirit. The special camouflage, designed in collaboration with renowned Australian-New Zealand artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop, embodies the theme of “The Road Less Traveled”.
Karim Habib, Kia’s global head of design center, said: “The Tasman pickup embodies Kia’s commitment to design and innovation, and the spirit of adventure. The unique camouflage, designed by artist Richard Boyd-Dunlop in collaboration with Kia’s design team, depicts a journey and captures the essence of adventure that is exclusive to the Tasman”.
The 2025 Kia Tasman will feature a bold, boxy styling with plenty of straight lines and sharp angles. It will also come equipped with vertical LED daytime running lights, similar to the ones found on the Sorento and EV9.
Inside the cabin, expect a focus on functionality, catering to the demands of traversing Australia’s rugged terrains.
The Kia Tasman will rival the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Isuzu D-Max when it launches in international markets, including certain Asian countries. Like its competitors, Kia’s pickup truck will likely offer an electrified powertrain in the near future. The internal-combustion variants could receive either a 2.2-liter diesel engine or a larger 3.0-liter turbo-diesel.
