The Mazda EZ-6 shares its platform with the Deepal SL03 (another EV from the Changan brand) but has unique front and rear designs to offer a different look. Notable features include a large grille flanked by the brand’s signature thin LED daytime running lights reminiscent of recent Mazda models – paired with sharp-looking headlamps.
Additionally, the Mazda EZ-6 has a wide trapezoidal center air intake and two narrow vertical air inlets on the front bumper.
Moving to the rear, there’s a set of semi-circular taillights connected by a thin LED light strip that spans the width of the tailgate.
Above the taillights is a small roof spoiler that’s integrated into the tailgate for a sportier look. Below the taillights is the “Mazda” lettering.
In terms of dimensions, the EZ-6 measures 4,921 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, 1,485 mm tall, and has a 2,900-mm wheelbase. That makes it 56 mm longer, 50 mm wider, and 35 mm taller than the current Mazda 6 sedan, while also having a 70 mm longer wheelbase.
Stepping inside, the EZ-6’s cabin has a minimalistic design. Most of the car’s functions will be controlled through the 14.6-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment display that sits atop the dashboard. Meanwhile, the center console is kept simple as well, only featuring two cupholders and a small storage compartment. Behind the flat-bottomed steering wheel is a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
Detailed specifications have yet to be announced but the EZ-6 is confirmed to follow the SL03 and will be offered with two powertrains. For the SL03, this starts with a pure electric powertrain that uses a rear-mounted electric motor producing either 215 PS or 255 PS – both have a peak torque of 320 Nm. Battery options include either a 58.9 kWh or 66.8 kWh battery pack, offering a range of between 530 km to 610 km on the CLTC standard.
There’s also a plug-in hybrid version that combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with either a 19 kWh or 28.4 kWh battery pack and an electric motor for a combined output of 215 PS or 235 PS – peak torque is again rated at 320 Nm.
Mazda says the pure electric model will have a range of around 600 km (presumably on the CLTC standard), while the PHEV is expected to have a range exceeding 1,000 km.
