The All-New Suzuki Swift 2024: Unveiling in Asia with a Starting Price of Under VND 200 Million

The 2024 Suzuki Swift receives subtle design enhancements, but it's the added convenience, safety features, and the fuel-efficient 1.2L engine that truly set it apart. While the exterior changes are understated, the real improvements lie within, delivering a more well-rounded and efficient driving experience.

The all-new Suzuki Swift made its debut in Japan back in December 2023, and has now been launched in another Asian market – India. As a product of the Maruti Suzuki joint venture, the new Swift in India is offered in a total of five variants, with prices ranging from 649,000 to 950,000 Rupees (approximately 197 to 289 million VND).

Although it is a new generation model, the Suzuki Swift for India only features minor design changes on the exterior, similar to the model sold in Japan. The car sports new exterior details such as the front bumper, grille, headlights, front fog lights, alloy wheels, and taillights. The rear door handles have also been moved down to the doors, instead of being placed on the C-pillar.

Additionally, the Suzuki Swift 2024 has undergone slight dimensional adjustments. It measures 3,860 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Compared to its predecessor, the new Swift is only 15 mm longer, 40 mm narrower, and 30 mm taller, while the wheelbase remains unchanged.

Indian customers can choose from nine exterior colors and two design packages named Racing Roadstar and Thrill Chaser. The Racing Roadstar package adds a sportier touch to the car, while the Thrill Chaser package enhances the exterior with a more dynamic look and a more luxurious interior.

The interior of the Suzuki Swift 2024 shares similarities with other models from the brand, such as the Baleno and Fronx. However, it feels more upscale than its predecessor, thanks to new features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system mounted on the dashboard, fabric upholstery, new center AC vents, and an improved analog instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch multi-information display. The climate control buttons have also been redesigned.

The top-spec variant comes loaded with features such as LED fog lights, electrically adjustable and foldable mirrors, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, a multifunction steering wheel, smart key, push-button start, cruise control, and a rearview camera.

Standard safety equipment on the Suzuki Swift 2024 in India includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and child seat anchors. Hill-start assist is exclusive to the automatic variants of the car.

Under the hood of the Suzuki Swift 2024 in India lies a new Z12E gasoline engine, replacing the older K12 unit. This naturally aspirated 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine produces 82 horsepower and 112 Nm of torque, which is 8 horsepower and 1 Nm less than its predecessor. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Unlike the model sold in Japan, the Suzuki Swift 2024 in India does not offer a hybrid powertrain. Nevertheless, the new engine is quite fuel-efficient, delivering an impressive average fuel economy of 24.8 to 25.75 km/l (approximately 3.88 to 4.03 l/100 km). With these figures, the Suzuki Swift 2024 is one of the most fuel-efficient hatchbacks in the Indian market.

Following its launch in Japan and India, the new Suzuki Swift is expected to make its way to other Asian markets, such as Thailand and Vietnam.
