The B-Segment SUV Lynk & Co 06 is Set to Enter the Vietnamese Market with a Competitive Price Tag of Over 700 Million VND

Lynk & Co is proud to introduce the 06 SUV to the Vietnamese market, offering a traditional gasoline engine instead of a plug-in hybrid system. This strategic decision ensures a competitive price point within the B-segment SUV category, making the Lynk & Co 06 an attractive and accessible option for consumers. With its powerful performance and sleek design, the Lynk & Co 06 is set to make its mark in the vibrant Vietnamese automotive landscape.

The Lynk & Co brand, owned by the Geely Group, made its official debut in Vietnam back in December 2023. As of now, this Chinese brand offers three models in the Vietnamese market, namely the Lynk & Co 01, 05, and 09. Soon, Lynk & Co will be introducing another new model, the 06, as recently announced by a sales consultant at the dealership.

First unveiled in 2020, the Lynk & Co 06 is a B-segment SUV that will compete against the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Honda HR-V, Toyota Yaris Cross, and Mitsubishi Xforce in the Vietnamese market. While the technical specifications and features of the Vietnam-spec Lynk & Co 06 are yet to be disclosed, it is likely to share similarities with the model recently launched in the Philippines in April 2024.

Lynk & Co 06 Launch in Philippines

Lynk & Co 06 launched in the Philippines in April 2024.

Built on the Geely BMA platform, the Lynk & Co 06 boasts dimensions of 4,340 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, and 1,625 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. This gives it a longer wheelbase than some of its competitors, such as the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Honda HR-V.

The exterior design showcases the distinctive Lynk & Co styling, evident in the two-tier lighting setup at the front. The upper tier houses the LED daytime running lights, designed as two vertical strips on either side of the hood. Below this sits the main headlamp cluster, flanking the grille. The front end also features a large trapezoidal central air intake and air vents at the corners of the bumper.

The profile of the SUV is characterized by prominent character lines and a blacked-out C-pillar, creating a floating roof effect. The 5-spoke alloy wheels add a touch of sportiness to the overall design. At the rear, the Lynk & Co 06 adopts a simple and clean aesthetic, highlighted by the 3D LED taillights that resemble energy bars. The rear end also features dual round exhaust tips and an electric tailgate.

Step inside the Lynk & Co 06, and you’ll find a spacious 5-seater cabin with a minimalist design aesthetic dominated by light gray hues, reminiscent of Scandinavian style. This influence is perhaps a nod to the Geely Group’s ownership of the Volvo brand from Sweden. The dashboard features a multi-layer design, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel, a Volvo-esque digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Other notable features include automatic dual-zone climate control with buttons conveniently located below the central air vents, an electronic gear selector, a covered storage compartment, and wireless phone charging in the center console. The SUV also offers leather upholstery, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, an active air filtration system, and WiFi connectivity.

When it comes to safety, the Lynk & Co 06 is well-equipped with six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, adaptive LED headlights, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, collision warning with autonomous emergency braking, and hill descent control.

Under the hood, the Vietnam-spec Lynk & Co 06 is expected to be powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine, producing an impressive 174 hp and 265 Nm of torque. This powerful engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering power to the front wheels. By opting for this potent powertrain, Lynk & Co has given the 06 a significant performance advantage over most of its competitors in the B-segment SUV category.

To keep the pricing competitive, Lynk & Co has decided against offering the plug-in hybrid variant of the 06 in Vietnam. According to the dealership sales consultant, the Lynk & Co 06 will be priced competitively, starting at just over VND 700 million. In comparison, the Philippines-spec model is offered in two variants, with prices ranging from PHP 1,488,000 to PHP 1,598,000 (approximately VND 650 million to VND 698 million).

The Lynk & Co 06 is expected to officially launch in Vietnam as early as June 2024, marking the brand’s continued expansion in the country’s automotive market.
