According to Carnewschina, just four minutes after the pricing announcement, Xiaomi’s website crashed due to an overwhelming response, with over 10,000 pre-orders. The company’s official Weibo account also announced that after nearly 30 minutes of sales, the new model had received more than 50,000 orders.

Prior to the launch, the Chinese automaker stated that its factory could produce up to 5,000 vehicles in March to meet the first delivery batch in April. With the number of pre-orders surpassing 50,000 and expected to continue rising until the end of this week, Xiaomi will need at least ten months to fulfill all the orders. The company is also constructing two additional factories, aiming to produce 70,000 vehicles this year.

Xiaomi SU7 sales

Xiaomi SU7 sold over 50,000 units in just 27 minutes.

The Xiaomi SU7 is offered in three trim levels and six color options. The Standard and Pro versions are equipped with a rear-wheel-drive electric motor, generating 299 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque, along with a 400V electrical system.

The top-of-the-line Max variant features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup and an 800V electrical architecture, delivering a maximum output of 673 horsepower and 838 Nm of torque.

Priced between 215,900 and 299,900 Chinese yuan, the Xiaomi SU7 is significantly more affordable than initially anticipated by Chinese consumers. According to Carnewschina, this is one of the primary reasons for the surge in orders. In the world’s most populous country, the Xiaomi SU7 goes up against competitors such as the BYD Seal, Xpeng P7i, BYD Han, and the Tesla Model 3.
