Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), one of the oldest automotive brands in the UK, has embarked on an interesting journey to elevate its manufacturing experience. In their pursuit of excellence, JLR has decided to invest £5 million in transforming their factories.

The British luxury car manufacturer is allocating this substantial sum towards enhancing their workwear and introducing innovative ways of working in their UK factories. The new workwear collection, designed with input from JLR’s employees, offers over 300 options, including hijab headscarves, maternity wear, and temperature-regulating garments.

Additionally, after a two-year research and testing period, JLR has committed over £2 million to bringing radio to their factories. This initiative aims to boost morale and enhance the working experience through the power of radio broadcasting. The radio system was recently activated at the Solihull factory in Birmingham.

Matt Walker, a member of JLR’s Production Group, shared, “The idea for the JLR radio project started two years ago when we began our testing and research journey. We conducted several trials to ensure that health and safety, quality, and productivity remained our top priorities. More than 90% of our employees have told us [during the trials] that their morale has improved, their work has become much more enjoyable, and they’ve noticed a positive impact on their health.”

Indeed, there is evidence suggesting that quality and productivity also increased during these trials. As a result, the radio systems were officially implemented at the Solihull plant a few weeks ago. Following this successful launch, JLR plans to introduce radio at the Halewood factory in Liverpool and other factories in the future. In total, over 10,000 employees will soon be able to listen to the radio while crafting luxurious vehicles at JLR.
