Mitsubishi Xpander: 1,766 units sold
Mitsubishi Xpander maintained its strong position in the Vietnamese MPV market in May 2024, with a remarkable sales growth of 39.8% compared to the previous month. With 1,766 units sold, it not only dominated the MPV segment but also topped the overall Vietnamese auto market.
Mitsubishi Xpander
Mitsubishi is currently offering attractive promotions for the Xpander in June 2024, including a 50% discount on registration fees and additional gifts such as a rearview camera worth VND 2.5 million or a 360-degree camera worth VND 20 million, depending on the version. With these incentives, the Mitsubishi Xpander is expected to continue its strong sales performance in the coming month.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is available in four versions in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 560 million to VND 698 million. While the MT version is domestically assembled, the other three versions are imported from Indonesia. Therefore, the upcoming decree on reduced registration fees for domestically produced and assembled vehicles, expected to take effect from July this year, may not significantly benefit the Xpander.
The Mitsubishi Xpander is equipped with a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 105 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a front-wheel drive system and a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
Toyota Veloz Cross: 604 units sold
The Toyota Veloz Cross also had a successful month with a sales growth of 15%, selling 604 units in May 2024. This performance propelled it to the second position in the segment, surpassing its sibling, the Innova Cross.
Toyota Veloz Cross
In June 2024, customers can choose between two promotional packages for the Veloz Cross. The first package offers a 0% interest rate for the first 12 months, while the second package includes a one-year Toyota insurance (Gold package).
The Toyota Veloz Cross is priced between VND 638 million and VND 660 million. In addition to its reasonable price within the segment, the vehicle is trusted for its reputable brand, SUV-inspired design, and advanced ADAS safety features. It is powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission.
Toyota Innova Cross: 461 units sold
The Toyota Innova Cross experienced a significant drop in sales in May 2024, with only 461 units sold, representing a decrease of 42.5%. Consequently, it fell to the third position in the MPV segment.
Toyota Innova Cross
The Toyota Innova Cross is priced between VND 810 million and VND 990 million, offering two engine options. The gasoline version is equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 172 horsepower and 205 Nm of torque, paired with a Direct Shift CVT transmission. Meanwhile, the hybrid version features a 150-horsepower gasoline engine combined with a 111-horsepower electric motor and a CVT transmission.
Hyundai Stargazer: 444 units sold
The Hyundai Stargazer made a comeback in May 2024, with 444 units sold. This improvement is attributed to the launch of the new Stargazer version in the same month.
Hyundai Stargazer
The 2024 Hyundai Stargazer is available in three versions: Standard, X, and X High. The Standard version remains the older model that has been sold in Vietnam since 2023, while the X and X High versions are the new models.
Hyundai has reduced the price of the Stargazer for the Vietnamese market, with the new range starting from VND 489 million to VND 599 million. With this competitive pricing, the Hyundai Stargazer becomes the most affordable MPV in Vietnam.
All three versions of the Stargazer are powered by a 1.5L Smartstream G 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with an intelligent iVT continuously variable transmission and a front-wheel drive system.

Despite being a popular large MPV in Vietnam, the Kia Carnival faced a sales decline in May 2024, with a 7.7% decrease in sales to 442 units.
Kia Carnival
The Kia Carnival is available in seven versions in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 1.189 billion to VND 1.759 billion. Despite the higher price range, the Carnival offers spacious interiors, stylish designs, convenient electric sliding doors, and a host of comfort and safety features.
Depending on the version, the Kia Carnival is equipped with either a gasoline or diesel engine. The diesel engine is a 2.2L Smartstream 4-cylinder DOHC unit that delivers 199 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the gasoline engine is a 3.5L Smartstream V6 unit that produces 268 horsepower and 331 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Kia Carens: 293 units sold
Following closely behind the Carnival is its sibling, the Kia Carens, which also experienced a sales decline of 16%, selling 293 units in May 2024.

Recently, the distributor THACO adjusted the pricing and version lineup of the Kia Carens. The vehicle is now offered in six versions, with prices ranging from VND 589 million to VND 789 million. Excluding the standard version, the other five versions have seen a price increase of VND 10 million.
The Kia Carens is one of the few MPVs in Vietnam to offer a 6-seat configuration. Additionally, it boasts three engine options: a naturally aspirated 1.5L gasoline engine, a 1.4L turbocharged gasoline engine, and a 1.5L diesel engine. These are paired with a manual transmission, a 6-speed automatic transmission, an iVT continuously variable transmission, or a 7-speed DCT transmission.
Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid: 287 units sold
The Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid achieved the highest sales growth rate in the MPV segment in May 2024, with a remarkable 41.3% increase. This positive result can be attributed to the attractive promotions offered for both versions of the vehicle, amounting to VND 89 million.
Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid
Suzuki has been providing significant discounts for the Ertiga Hybrid as the model is nearing its end of production in Vietnam. The company has stopped importing the 2024 production year models (2024 VIN) and is focusing on selling the remaining 2023 VIN units.
In June 2024, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid continues to offer attractive promotions. For the MT version, customers can enjoy a 100% discount on registration fees, 0% interest for 12 months, and a fuel voucher worth VND 5 million. Meanwhile, the AT version comes with a 100% discount on registration fees, 0% interest for 6 months, and a fuel voucher worth VND 10 million. With these promotions, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is priced as low as VND 449 million, making it the most affordable MPV in Vietnam.
As a budget-friendly MPV, the Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid may not have the most impressive features in terms of comfort and safety. However, it stands out with its mild hybrid system, which includes a 1.5L 4-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque, paired with a manual or automatic transmission.
Honda BR-V: 256 units sold
The Honda BR-V faced a challenging month in May 2024, with a sales decline of 20.2%, resulting in 256 units sold. This decrease is not surprising, given the lack of official promotions for the model in recent months.
Honda BR-V
The Honda BR-V is available in two versions in Vietnam, with prices ranging from VND 661 million to VND 705 million. Despite the higher price point, the Honda BR-V remains competitive with its sporty SUV-inspired design and advanced ADAS safety features.
