The all-new BYD Shark is almost here! This electric pickup truck is set to make its debut this week, as teased by the company’s official website. According to CarnewsChina, the English slogan “coming soon” indicates that this model will be targeted at international markets. |
As per the schedule, the BYD Shark will be unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show on April 25. Prior to this, the first real-world photos of this pickup were also spotted in Mexico.
The BYD Shark’s exterior design takes inspiration from the Ford Ranger and Ford F-150 Lightning. It features a bold and angular front end, complete with C-shaped LED headlights and a large logo positioned in the center.

Built on the DMO platform, similar to the off-road Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5, the BYD Shark is designed for electric charging and off-road capabilities. It features a 4-wheel drive system that allows for flexible torque adjustment and distribution from front to rear.
While details about the internal combustion engine that will be paired with the electric motor in the BYD Shark’s hybrid system are not yet available, CarnewsChina predicts that the pickup will likely be equipped with the DM-i Plug-in Hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine with two electric motors at the front and rear.

In terms of performance, the BYD Shark offers an impressive range of 1,200 km on a single charge. Its combined fuel consumption is estimated at 7.8 liters per 100 km.
The interior of the BYD Shark follows a similar design language as the Bao 5, featuring a digital instrument cluster and a centrally-positioned floating infotainment screen. Pricing details for the BYD Shark are yet to be announced by the manufacturer.
