Ford Ranger: 1,477 Units Sold
Ford Vietnam sold 1,477 units of the Ford Ranger in May 2024, achieving a 17% growth rate. With these impressive results, the American-made pickup truck once again dominated the segment and secured a spot in the top 10 best-selling automobiles in the entire market. Additionally, the cumulative sales of the Ford Ranger from the beginning of 2024 to the present reached 6,301 units, ranking second in the market, just behind the Mitsubishi Xpander (6,537 units).

Several factors contribute to the Ford Ranger’s strong sales performance in Vietnam. Firstly, the modern and aesthetically pleasing design appeals to consumers. Secondly, the vehicle offers a comprehensive range of convenience and safety features. Moreover, the Ford Ranger boasts the most diverse lineup of versions in the Vietnamese market, with a total of eight variants (excluding the Raptor). The price of this versatile pickup truck ranges from VND 669 million to VND 1.039 billion.
The Ford Ranger available in Vietnam offers two diesel engine options with a displacement of 2.0L. The first is a single-turbocharged engine that delivers a maximum output of 167 horsepower and a peak torque of 405 Nm. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second engine is a twin-turbocharged unit that generates 207 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

After a four-month hiatus from the Vietnamese market since the beginning of 2024, the Toyota Hilux has finally returned. In its first month back on sale, the 2024 Toyota Hilux achieved impressive sales of 308 units, claiming the second position in the segment and surpassing the Mitsubishi Triton.

The 2024 Toyota Hilux is offered in three variants: 2.4 4×4 MT, 2.4 4×2 AT, and 2.8 4×4 AT Adventure. The price range for these models is VND 668 million to VND 999 million. Not only does the Toyota Hilux offer more versions, but it also benefits from a reduced starting price compared to its predecessor, making it more appealing to buyers.
The new model features subtle design adjustments and enhanced equipment, including a 9-inch central touchscreen display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The 2.8 4×4 AT Adventure variant boasts additional safety features such as a 360-degree camera, six sensors, a Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and a Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA) system.
Under the hood, the Toyota Hilux is powered by two engine options. The first is a 2.4L four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 144 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The second is a 2.8L four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 201 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. These engines are paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with either a single-wheel or a four-wheel drive system, depending on the variant.

May 2024 marked a positive sales performance for the Mitsubishi Triton, with 163 units sold, reflecting a 13.1% growth rate. However, the return of the Toyota Hilux pushed the Mitsubishi Triton to third place in the pickup truck segment.

During June 2024, Mitsubishi is offering a promotion on the Triton, covering 100% of the registration fee for the GLS 4×2 and GLX 4×2 AT versions. Additionally, customers will receive a rear-view camera worth VND 2.5 million and one year of physical damage insurance.
Mitsubishi is scheduled to launch the new generation of the Triton in Vietnam in September this year, and local dealers have already started taking orders for the new model.
The Mitsubishi Triton is currently priced between VND 650 million and VND 905 million in Vietnam. It is equipped with a 2.4L MIVEC DI-D Hi-Power diesel engine that delivers 181 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either a rear-wheel or four-wheel drive system.
Isuzu D-Max: 33 Units Sold
The Isuzu D-Max maintained its position as the lowest-selling pickup truck in the segment, with 33 units sold in May, representing a 10% growth rate.

The Isuzu D-Max offers competitively priced models in Vietnam, ranging from VND 665 million to VND 880 million for its three variants. While the vehicle provides adequate convenience and safety features, its sales performance is hindered by its less appealing design compared to its competitors.
The Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 1.9L four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either a single-wheel or a four-wheel drive system.
