The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ, of which only 900 were produced globally, has been given a red-and-white racing-inspired livery by the DDE crew, and it’s sure to be a head-turner at the Gumball 3000 event in Vietnam this September.
Unveiled at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance 2018, the Lamborghini Aventador LP770-4 Super Veloce Jota (SVJ) is a track-focused iteration of the Lamborghini Aventador S and an improvement over the previous limited-edition Lamborghini Aventador SV. Only 900 units of this supercar will be manufactured.
The SVJ is the first Lamborghini production car to feature the Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) system, which includes front splitter air curtains, a three-dimensional air outlet on the hood, a large carbon fiber rear wing with a central fin, underbody vortex generators, and a substantial rear diffuser.
This system works in conjunction with the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva 2.0 (LDVA 2.0) management system, which uses inertial sensors to adjust the car’s configuration every 0.5 seconds. It claims to provide a 40% increase in downforce compared to the SV and a 1% reduction in drag coefficient.
The L539 V12 6.5-liter engine, used across the Aventador range, has been retuned to deliver a maximum output of 770 PS (759 hp) at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 720 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The extensive use of carbon fiber and titanium in the exhaust system has helped reduce the car’s weight to 1,525 kg.
As a result, the SVJ boasts a power-to-weight ratio of 0.5 hp per kg. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 8.6 seconds, with a top speed of 350 km/h.
In July 2018, a camouflaged SVJ prototype, driven by Lamborghini test driver Marco Mapelli, set a new production car record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a lap time of 6:44.97, surpassing the previous record holder, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
