In May 2022, Mercedes-Benz first unveiled its plans to launch the exclusive Mythos Series, positioned as an even more luxurious offering than the Mercedes-Maybach. However, it wasn’t until February 2024 that the first sketch images of the inaugural Mythos Series model were revealed.

The vehicle is designed in the classic speedster style, featuring an aerodynamic rear body reminiscent of vintage racing cars. The front end bears the familiar styling cues of the SL Roadster models.

According to sources, the inspiration for this unique Mythos stems from the iconic Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR race car. This very car won the 1955 Mille Miglia race with the legendary Stirling Moss behind the wheel. In 2009, Mercedes-Benz paid homage to this classic with the modern Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, limited to just 75 units worldwide.

If the descriptions are accurate, the first Mythos Series model will bear a resemblance to the Bussink GT R SpeedLegend, unveiled in 2021. The car is slated for a global debut later this year, with deliveries expected to commence in 2025. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz also plans to launch an ultra-luxurious Maybach version based on the SL Roadster platform.
