A recent video circulating on social media has captured the attention of many. The footage showcases a lineup of luxury vehicles, including the eye-catching Koenigsegg Regera owned by the prominent figure, Hoang Kim Khanh, awaiting clearance procedures at the Hoa Lu border gate in Binh Phuoc province, Vietnam.
Further investigation reveals that the reason behind the appearance of Hoang Kim Khanh’s Koenigsegg Regera at the Hoa Lu border gate was to renew its travel documents, a necessary step for owners of such high-end automobiles. This process can be quite cumbersome, requiring frequent paperwork to legally drive these vehicles in Vietnam with Cambodian license plates.
Hoang Kim Khanh’s Koenigsegg Regera: A Rare Sighting at the Hoa Lu Border Gate
In anticipation of an upcoming grand event, where he plans to showcase his impressive collection of supercars, Hoang Kim Khanh has taken the necessary steps to ensure his Koenigsegg Regera is ready. Prior to this event, the millionaire chose to renew the vehicle’s paperwork at the Binh Phuoc border gate, a change from his previous preference of the Moc Bai gate in Tay Ninh province.
The last public appearance of the Koenigsegg Regera, valued at millions of dollars, was in April 2024 in the city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province. On that occasion, the car was transported on a rescue vehicle and only drove a few dozen meters for display purposes.
Hoang Kim Khanh acquired the Koenigsegg Regera in 2021, but it wasn’t until early 2022 that the car was officially registered in Cambodia with a license plate bearing his name. Unfortunately, after participating in a few events, the car suffered a major malfunction that even two experts flown in from Koenigsegg couldn’t fix.
As a result, Khanh had no choice but to send the car back to Cambodia and then temporarily export and re-import it to Sweden for repairs. It took nearly two years to fix the issues, and it was only at the beginning of this year that the Koenigsegg Regera was fully restored and returned to Cambodia before being transported to Khanh’s private residence.
The total cost incurred by Hoang Kim Khanh for this supercar was approximately $2.9 million, including various fees in Cambodia. Many believe that the actual price of the car is less than 90 billion VND, contrary to the figure of 200 billion VND claimed by the millionaire couple.
The Koenigsegg Regera is an extremely rare car, with only 80 units produced worldwide. The number of vehicles finished in red carbon, like Hoang Kim Khanh’s, is even more exclusive. According to the millionaire, he spent 9 billion VND on repairing the Koenigsegg Regera, excluding transportation costs to Cambodia.
In terms of performance, the Koenigsegg Regera is a hybrid powerhouse, combining a 5.0-liter V8 biturbo gasoline engine with three electric motors to produce a staggering 1,500 horsepower and 2,000 Nm of torque. This enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 400 km/h. Instead of a traditional gearbox, the Regera utilizes a unique direct-drive system.
