The Seized Supercars’ Unfortunate End: Lamborghini and Mercedes-Benz G-Class Illegally Imported into Quảng Bình Province Meet Their Demise

In a bid to curb illegal activities, the authorities in Quang Binh province took a bold step by impounding two smuggled luxury vehicles - a Lamborghini Murcielago and a Mercedes-Benz G-Class - for four long years. However, their fate was sealed recently as they met their end not with a bang but with a crusher, sending a strong message against illicit trade.

On August 4, 2020, the Police Investigation Agency for Corruption, Economic and Smuggling Crimes, together with the Traffic Police Department (Quang Binh Provincial Police), intercepted the transport of two cars suspected of being smuggled. One of the vehicles resembled a Mercedes-Benz G-Class, while the other was a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 supercar.

After nearly four years of impounding these smuggled vehicles for investigation, the authorities have finally decided on their fate. Specifically, on July 10, 2024, the Council for the Destruction of Administrative Violation Exhibits of Quang Binh province decided to destroy the two smuggled cars, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 and the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

The destruction of the administrative violation exhibits was carried out by the Police Investigation Agency for Corruption, Economic and Smuggling Crimes in coordination with relevant units, ensuring compliance with regulations, safety, efficiency, and environmental protection.

Notably, while the two vehicles resembled the Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4, there were some unusual differences in their exterior compared to the genuine models, especially the yellow Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Its shape, headlights, and triangular windows were quite peculiar.

As for the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 supercar, its door sill was from the Aventador, a higher-end model that was introduced later. However, the overall design and interior resembled the genuine article. Unfortunately, the rear end was severely damaged, with broken or missing cooling grilles exposing the cooling fans.

At the time of inspection, the truck driver could not present any documents proving the origin of the two vehicles. Moreover, the Vietnamese vehicle registration system did not have any data associated with their license plates, chassis, or engine numbers.
