The Ultimate McLaren Makeover: A Billionaire’s Dream Car Comes to Life

The McLaren Senna GTR is an exclusive track-only supercar, and as such, it has inspired numerous aftermarket companies to create body kits based on its aggressive design. Among these companies is DarwinPro, whose body kit has been chosen by the owner of a McLaren 720S Spider from Nghe An Province to give their convertible supercar a distinct personality.

The McLaren 720S Spider is an exclusive supercar with fewer than 10 units in Vietnam, each with its unique customizations. One such owner from Nghe An province has taken it a step further with an aggressive body kit reminiscent of the track-only McLaren Senna GTR.

The McLaren Senna GTR, a race-bred supercar, once graced Vietnamese shores but has since left. This hasn’t stopped tuning companies like DarwinPro from offering body kits inspired by the GTR. A McLaren 720S Spider owner from Nghe An has embraced this opportunity to give their convertible a distinct personality.

This particular McLaren 720S Spider previously turned heads with its chameleon wrap, capable of changing colors depending on the viewing angle. Now, it has undergone a dramatic transformation with a McLaren Senna GTR-style body kit.

The front end has been completely overhauled with a new two-tier carbon fiber bumper, mirroring the aggressive design of the Senna GTR. This not only adds visual appeal but also reduces weight.

The DarwinPro front bumper extends outward, wrapping around the sides of the car. It also features large side fins that accentuate the car’s presence when viewed head-on. A new headlight air vent completes the front-end modifications.

The DarwinPro-tuned McLaren 720S Spider continues the GTR theme with a carbon fiber hood that mimics the race car’s design, adding a touch of aggression.

The wheel arches are further enhanced with air vents, giving the car a more belligerent stance. The DarwinPro body kit is finished off with a substantial rear wing, although the owner has opted to retain the smaller carbon fiber wing for the time being.

The DarwinPro body kit for the McLaren 720S Spider starts at $18,550 (approximately 430 million VND), excluding additional options and shipping costs to Vietnam.

The most notable difference between the McLaren 720S Spider and its Coupe counterpart is the retractable hardtop roof. Made from carbon fiber, the roof can be lowered or raised in just 11 seconds while the car is in motion, provided the speed doesn’t exceed 50 km/h.

Under the hood, the McLaren 720S Spider is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 710 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. Mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 341 km/h.
