On July 10, 2024, the Council for the Destruction of Administrative Violation Exhibits in Quang Binh province made the decision to destroy two smuggled cars. One of the cars resembled a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4, while the other was designed to look like a Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4 replica was deemed to be quite similar to the real deal, while the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG replica was noticeably different from its genuine counterpart. The images of the cars during the destruction process further confirmed that the Mercedes-Benz G-Class was most likely a cheap imitation.
From its design to its interior, this Mercedes-Benz G-Class replica bore little resemblance to its authentic counterparts, leading many to believe that it was indeed a cheap imitation—a low-cost SUV modified to resemble the G63.
Authentic Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG
Several details gave away the fact that this was not an original Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The driver’s side window featured a triangular pane, which was not present in previous G63 models. Additionally, the head and tail lights were noticeably sloppy in their design.
A closer look at the interior further confirmed that this was not a genuine Mercedes-Benz G-Class. The leather-upholstered seats, cheap-looking metal frame, manual crank windows, and gear shift lever resembled those found in UAZ vehicles, unlike the other supercar, which boasted an overall design and interior quite similar to the real Lamborghini.
The only resemblance to the genuine article seemed to be the V8 Biturbo logo on the side of the vehicle. As a result, the destruction of this Mercedes-Benz G-Class replica did not evoke the same sense of loss as the destruction of the green Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4.
It is unclear whether the engine of the destroyed Mercedes-Benz G-Class was the authentic “xịn” V8, twin-turbocharged, 5.5-liter engine, capable of producing a maximum output of 544 horsepower and a peak torque of 760 Nm.
In its original form, this engine would have been paired with a 7-speed AMG automatic transmission and a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, enabling the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, reaching a top speed of 210 km/h.
How much is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG with the number plate “99999” being sold for? Is the number plate worth more than 3 billion VND?
If compared to new models like the 2020 Mercedes-AMG G63, the luxury SUV Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG with a unique number plate 99999 is priced only 500 million VND lower. Furthermore, if compared to the 2014 models, the G63 models are being sold from 6.5 to 8 billion VND, making this car more expensive by 3 to 4.5 billion VND.
