According to Motor1, Mumtalakat Holding Company, an investment fund from Bahrain, has officially taken full ownership of the British sports car company McLaren after increasing its stake from 60% to 100%.
Some sources suggest that McLaren will launch a new supercar later this year. This model is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid V8 engine with over 1,000 horsepower. There are also rumors that the brand will replace its traditional doors with Gullwing-style doors and introduce an entirely new carbon fiber chassis and 3D-printed suspension components.
Mumtalakat Holding has invested in the McLaren Group since 2007, initially purchasing 30% of the shares from founding shareholders Ron Dennis and Mansour Ojjeh.

Over the years, investment funds have provided significant financial support to McLaren, allowing the brand to continue operating amidst challenges in launching and producing new vehicles.
McLaren has also faced issues with its supply chain due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In April 2021, the company sold its headquarters and F1 racing facility. By the end of 2022, McLaren even sold several historically significant models to raise funds for the development of the hybrid Artura, a project that had been delayed multiple times in the past.
In the first nine months of 2023, the group reported a loss of £279.5 million, equivalent to more than 8,700 billion VND.
McLaren officially started selling cars in Vietnam in March 2022 through the same importer and distributor as Rolls-Royce and Lamborghini. The brand has offered supercars such as the 720S, 720S Spider, 765LT, 765LT Spider, GT, and Artura.
Notably, McLaren Elva, a speedster limited to 149 units worldwide, was also purchased by Pham Tran Nhat Minh with unique personalized details. The price of this car reached 143 billion VND.
