Among Vietnam’s community of luxury car enthusiasts, Hoang Kim Khanh stands out for his impressive collection of supercars. His journey began with the purchase of a Lamborghini Aventador S LP740-4, and since then, he has invested hundreds of billions of dong to acquire other speedsters such as the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, Porsche 911 Turbo S (992 generation), the hypercar McLaren Senna, and the megacar Koenigsegg Regera.
In the last five months of 2024, Hoang Kim Khanh, also known as Khanh “Aesthetic,” is expected to add two new models to his garage.
Specifically, Mr. Khanh “Aesthetic” revealed that he purchased these two supercars last year and earlier this year. One of them is a convertible from McLaren, which will be officially imported, while the other is a hypercar from Lamborghini, acquired through a resale, and it is likely to bear a Cambodian license plate.
And without further ado, the two supercars in question are the McLaren 750S Spider and the Lamborghini Sian.
Back in July of last year, car enthusiast Khanh “Aesthetic” proudly shared his acquisition of the McLaren 750S Spider from an official dealership. The video he posted showcased the car’s blue exterior, and now, a year later, it is likely that the car has arrived in Vietnam and is undergoing the necessary procedures to obtain its license plate before being handed over to its owner.
Currently, there is only one recorded McLaren 750S in Vietnam, a coupe model with a customized paint job similar to Hoang Kim Khanh’s McLaren Senna. If Khanh’s 750S has indeed arrived in the country, it would be the first Spider model in Vietnam.
By ordering the McLaren 750S Spider last year, Hoang Kim Khanh added a second McLaren to his collection, following the Senna. The Senna is a hypercar with a limited production run of 500 units, and Khanh’s car is one of only two in the world painted in the unique Cerberus Pearl chameleon color.
The McLaren 750S Spider is considered the successful successor to the 720S Spider. Its exterior received minor upgrades, including exhaust pipes, a front bumper, and headlamps in the old style, with a rear spoiler reminiscent of the 765LT Spider, and the new square exhaust pipes. McLaren announced a starting price of $325,000 for the 750S Spider, equivalent to 7.6 billion VND.
In terms of performance, the McLaren 750S Spider is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 M840T engine with twin-turbochargers, similar to the 765LT Spider but with some adjustments resulting in a slightly lower output of 750 PS. It produces 590 Nm of torque.
This power is transmitted to the rear-wheel drive through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the McLaren 750S Spider to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, matching the 720S Spider. It can reach 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds and 300 km/h in 20.4 seconds. The top speed is an impressive 332 km/h.
Earlier this year, Hoang Kim Khanh revealed his plans to purchase the limited-edition Lamborghini Sian, a very special offering from the Italian supercar manufacturer. They produced only 63 coupe versions and 19 roadsters, and all of them were already spoken for even before leaving the factory, snapped up by collectors, new enthusiasts, or prominent supercar showroom owners in the Middle East.
It is easy to estimate the price of Hoang Kim Khanh’s Lamborghini Sian as it is currently listed on an international car trading website for nearly $3.3 million, equivalent to 76.8 billion VND. This price is $300,000 higher than the Koenigsegg Regera’s price, as communicated by the Koenigsegg Chicago dealership, which is $2.9 million. The Sian has a 2022 model year and has only clocked 105 kilometers.
The Lamborghini Sian is based on the Aventador’s platform and borrows its power from the Aventador SVJ’s naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, now fitted with new titanium intake valves. This setup produces a maximum output of 774 horsepower.
Additionally, the Sian’s engine is paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that incorporates an electric motor into the gearbox, adding another 34 horsepower. As a result, the Lamborghini Sian boasts a combined output of 808 horsepower, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 km/h.
One of the standout features of the Lamborghini Sian is its use of a supercapacitor instead of traditional lithium-ion batteries. This technology is three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight and three times lighter. The supercapacitor is positioned between the cockpit and the engine to optimize weight distribution.
