Xiaomi SU7: The Electric Sedan That’s Still Turning Heads
It’s been a while since its launch, but the Xiaomi SU7 continues to captivate car enthusiasts.
Notably, the resale price of the SU7 Founders Edition is now even higher than its original retail price.
Recently, a blogger named Li Dazhui decided to sell his Xiaomi SU7 Max Founders Edition, purchased just over three months ago, due to its scarcity in the market.
With over 3,600 km on the odometer, the car had sustained some rear damage in a collision. Li sold the vehicle to a used car center in Beijing for 280,000 Chinese yuan (approximately $41,000), a profitable deal considering the car’s condition and age.
On online marketplaces, used SU7 models are listed at premium prices. For instance, an SU7 with 600 km on the odometer is priced at 343,000 Chinese yuan (around $51,500), while another with 1,900 km is listed for 335,000 Chinese yuan (about $50,300).
These prices are significantly higher than the new SU7’s base price, which ranges from 215,900 to 299,900 Chinese yuan (approximately $32,400 to $45,000).
The SU7 is a mid-size sedan with impressive dimensions: 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,440/1,455 mm in height, along with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. These specs surpass those of the Tesla Model 3 designed by Elon Musk.
Xiaomi boasts that the SU7 has a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.195, making it one of the most aerodynamic cars globally.
The SU7 is packed with cutting-edge technology, including LiDAR sensors, 11 HD cameras, 3 millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars, enabling advanced driver-assistance systems and automated parking.
Xiaomi plans to test the SU7’s urban autonomous driving capabilities in 2024.
The Xiaomi SU7 comes in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) variants. The RWD model features a single electric motor on the rear axle, producing 295 horsepower. Meanwhile, the AWD version adds a front-mounted electric motor, generating a combined output of 664 horsepower.
The SU7 offers two battery options: a 73.6 kWh LFP battery from BYD or a 101 kWh ternary (NMC) battery from CATL. The BYD battery provides a range of 628 km or 668 km, depending on the configuration, while the CATL battery offers a remarkable 800 km or 750 km.
The BYD battery supports 400V fast charging, while the CATL battery is designed for 800V fast charging.
