The 2025 Corvette ZR1 boasts an astonishing 1,064 horsepower from its V8 engine, making it the most powerful Chevrolet Corvette to date. With this immense power, the sports car surpasses many renowned supercars from brands like Ferrari, Pagani, and Lamborghini.
The Corvette has long been renowned for its exceptional performance and relatively accessible pricing. The eighth generation Corvette, introduced in 2019, featured significant engine and equipment upgrades, quickly gaining traction with impressive sales figures. Riding on this success, Chevrolet has now unveiled the high-performance Corvette ZR1, equipped with a V8 engine that rivals hypercars.
Under the hood of the 2025 Corvette ZR1 lies a 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces an astonishing 1,064 horsepower and 1,121 Nm of torque. This engine, dubbed the LT7, is the most powerful Chevrolet has ever produced. Moreover, the American-made car surpasses several supercars from prestigious brands, including the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, Lamborghini Revuelto, McLaren 750S, Pagani Huayra, and the Mercedes-AMG One.
The LT7 engine shares similarities with the LT6 found in the Corvette Z06, but with a key difference—a revamped turbocharging system that results in superior output.
Chevrolet has also made enhancements to the LT7’s combustion chambers and modified the structure. Additionally, the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission has been upgraded with wider gears, stronger shafts, and improved lubrication.
According to Tadge Juechter, the chief engineer of the Corvette project, the ZR1 delivers torque comparable to that of a cargo-hauling tractor. Furthermore, Chevrolet claims that the Corvette ZR1 can comfortably reach speeds of up to 346 km/h, and its top speed is unlimited.
During testing, the Corvette ZR1 achieved a speed of 322 km/h on the Nürburgring race track on its very first try. This American sports car can accelerate from 0 to 402 km/h in just 9.7 seconds at a speed of 241 km/h. While slightly slower than the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, which covers the same distance in 8.91 seconds at 243 km/h, the ZR1’s performance is still impressive.
Another notable feature is the carbon-ceramic brake system, with 15.7-inch discs at the front and 15.4-inch discs at the rear. The combination of a powerful engine and advanced braking system allows the Corvette ZR1 LT7 to complete the 129-322-129 km/h acceleration test in just 24.5 seconds, a 22% improvement over the C7-powered ZR1.
In terms of design, the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is offered in two body styles: coupe and convertible. It boasts a sporty and aggressive exterior package similar to its predecessors, highlighted by a large wing structure with multiple air vents for improved aerodynamics. The wheels, made of aluminum or carbon fiber, come in 20 or 21-inch sizes and are fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
In addition to the standard configuration, Chevrolet offers performance upgrade packages for the Corvette ZR1. The ZTK package includes a rear wing, front splitter extensions, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, and a Gurney flap on the hood. This package also includes stiffer suspension and modified chassis settings. On the other hand, the Carbon Aero package comprises all aerodynamic elements constructed from carbon fiber.
The interior of the Corvette ZR1 remains consistent with other Corvette models, featuring a familiar 12-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment system with Google integration, along with sports seats.
The Corvette ZR1 will enter production in the coming year and will be manufactured in Bowling Green, Kentucky. While Chevrolet has not yet announced the official pricing, it is expected to be higher than the Z06, which currently starts at $110,100.
