The Ultimate Driving Machine: BMW X3 2025 Unveiled with Cutting-Edge Tech and a Slight Price Hike

BMW has revealed the latest iteration of its popular CUV, the X3, for the 2025 model year. The new BMW X3 2025 boasts a refreshed design, a new hybrid powertrain, and an array of technological upgrades for a more sophisticated driving experience.

The 2025 lineup consists of two variants: the X3 30 xDrive and the X3 M50 xDrive. A notable change from the previous generation is the omission of the “i” designation for gasoline-powered models.

Under the hood, the X3 30 xDrive is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, delivering 255 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. This setup enables the X3 to accelerate from 0-60 mph in roughly 6 minutes and reach a top speed of 130 mph.

Stepping up to the X3 M50 xDrive unlocks a more powerful 3.0-liter inline-six engine with electrification, producing an impressive 393 horsepower and 580 Nm of torque. This setup launches the CUV from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, matching the performance of the previous X3 M40i. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph with the optional performance tires or 130 mph with the standard set. Both models come standard with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

In terms of dimensions, the 2025 BMW X3 has grown slightly compared to its predecessor, measuring 4755 mm in length, 1920 mm in width, and 1660 mm in height. It is 33 mm longer, 28 mm wider, and 25 mm lower, giving it a sportier stance.

The X3’s exterior design takes cues from its bigger brother, the XM, most notably in the front fascia. The X3 30 xDrive features a more angular kidney grille with a unique cross-hatched pattern and vertical slats. Following the trend of recent BMW SUVs, the X3 also incorporates an LED light bar that surrounds the grille.

The headlight design has been refreshed with sleek L-shaped LED daytime running lights, replacing the previous C-shaped configuration. The front bumper has been redesigned with a wider central air intake and silver accents for a more aggressive look. Standard 19-inch wheels come fitted, with 20-inch and 21-inch options available.

The X3 M50 turns up the sportiness with 20-inch wheels, horizontal slat grille with LED surround, M Sport brakes, and a sportier exhaust system. It also benefits from performance enhancements like the Adaptive M Sport suspension, M Sport steering, and an M Sport rear differential.

Inside, the BMW X3 showcases a curved display that integrates the latest iDrive 9 infotainment system. This system introduces QuickSelect, allowing easy access to frequently used functions without having to navigate through menus. Cargo capacity stands at 30.4 cubic feet, expanding to 67.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The X3 can tow up to 4,850 pounds with the optional tow package.

Standard equipment includes heated sport seats with memory function and a flat-bottom steering wheel. An optional upgrade adds a cloth-covered dashboard and M Veganz or Alcantara upholstery.

Buyers have a wide range of exterior colors to choose from, with 10 options for the M50 xDrive and 11 for the X3 30 xDrive. Additionally, 15 extra colors are available through the BMW Personal custom paint program.

The 2025 BMW X3 30 xDrive starts at $50,675 MSRP, while the X3 M50 xDrive begins at $65,275. These prices represent increases of $780 and $2,380, respectively, compared to the 2024 models. The new X3 will be produced at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina and is expected to hit the market in the latter part of the year.
