Hyundai is working on a new CUV that’s even smaller than the Venue, set to rival the Maruti Fronx.
According to India’s Rushlane magazine, Hyundai is gearing up to launch a compact urban crossover that’s even smaller than the Venue. Spy shots of the vehicle testing in India have emerged, but it’s heavily camouflaged, revealing little about its exterior design.
Insider sources suggest that the CUV, internally codenamed Bc4i, is based on the Bayon CUV currently sold in select European markets. It utilizes Hyundai Group’s K2 platform, which also underpins most other small cars in the Kia and Hyundai lineups, including the Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Kia Seltos.
Hyundai’s new offering is expected to compete directly with the Maruti Fronx in the Indian market. To achieve this, it will likely be priced between VND 300 million and 450 million.
The upcoming CUV may share engine options with its siblings, the i20 and Venue, helping Hyundai save significantly on development costs. The vehicle is anticipated to make its official debut in India by 2027.
