MG7 Coming to Vietnam: SAIC Confirms Distribution, Launching in 2024
SAIC Vietnam has officially announced its plans to distribute the MG7 model in the country. The highly anticipated sedan is set to launch in Vietnam later this year, although an exact date has not yet been revealed.
In early May 2024, dealerships in Vietnam also started taking reservations for this D-segment sedan. The MG7 is expected to be priced competitively, with an estimated price of over 700 million VND. If this information is accurate, the MG7 will become the most affordable vehicle in its segment in the Vietnamese market.
First introduced globally in 2022, the MG7 boasts impressive dimensions with a length of 4,884 mm, a width of 1,889 mm, a height of 1,447 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,778 mm.
The MG7’s exterior design exudes a sporty and robust aesthetic, complemented by modern touches. The front of the vehicle features a striking set of triangular LED headlights with dual LED strips, while the side vents in the front bumper add to its athletic stance. Depending on the configuration, the MG7 will be fitted with either 18-inch or 19-inch alloy wheels, paired with 225/50 or 245/40 tires.
The rear of the vehicle is just as impressive, showcasing a sleek design with a continuous LED taillight, a subtle trunk lid spoiler, and four oval exhaust pipes evenly distributed on both sides. The highest trim level will feature exclusive black logos on the sides, an active rear spoiler, and a unique British Green exterior color option.
Step inside the MG7, and you’ll find a modern and luxurious cabin that rivals that of German luxury brands. The interior accommodates five passengers and features a fully digital 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a prominent 12.3-inch central infotainment screen.
This D-segment sedan also comes equipped with a Topload glass roof, an intelligent Zebra Luoshen 8155 cockpit system, advanced MG PILOT 2.0 intelligent driving assistance, and a premium BOSE sound system with nine speakers.
According to sources, the MG7 will be offered in Vietnam with the same two engine options available in the Chinese market. The first is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 261 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. The second option is a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that generates 180 horsepower and 298 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Both versions come with four driving modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, and X-MODE.
Upon its release in Vietnam, the MG7 will go up against competitors such as the Toyota Camry, Kia K5, Mazda6, Honda Accord, and the new BYD Seal.
