For the first time ever, the 2025 BMW M5 features hybrid technology and boasts an impressive 717 horsepower. The vehicle also comes equipped with a host of new features and technologies.

There are few cars in the world that have maintained their appeal as long as the BMW M5. Since its debut 40 years ago, the M5 has gone through 7 generations and has always been one of the most popular sports sedans on the market. Recently, the Bravian automaker announced the release of the latest generation of the M5, featuring significant upgrades to its engine configuration, design, and equipment.

For the first time in its history, the BMW M5 is electrified. Specifically, the new model is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 577 horsepower at 5,600-6,500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque at 1,800 rpm. This is complemented by an electric motor that generates 194 horsepower and 280 Nm.

Combined, the 2025 BMW M5 delivers a total output of 717 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. These figures enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, just a tad slower than the previous-generation M5 Competition (3.3 seconds). The top speed of the M5 is limited to 250 km/h, or 306 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package performance upgrade.

Energy for the electric motor is supplied by a 18.6 kWh battery pack located under the floor, allowing the car to travel up to 40 kilometers on electric power alone.

Similar to other high-end BMW models, the M5 2025 features all-wheel drive. However, when the driver engages Dynamic mode, the car quickly switches to rear-wheel drive, providing the thrilling driving experience that BMW sports car enthusiasts crave.

The design of the new BMW M5 borrows heavily from the X5 M and X6 M, evident in its angular front end and closed-off kidney grille. The hood features bold, sculpted lines, similar to the M4. At the rear, the car is equipped with a carbon fiber spoiler and a pair of sporty exhaust tips. Overall, the 2025 BMW M5 has a more aggressive design than its predecessor but is still tamer than its “big brother,” the XM. It comes standard with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels.

On the inside, the new BMW M5 is fitted with M Multifunction sports seats in the front. According to the manufacturer, these seats are designed for comfort rather than the stiff and snug fit typically associated with sports seats. The new steering wheel has a sporty, flat-bottom design and features a built-in heating function.

Like many other recently launched BMW models, the M5 2025 features a curved display that combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 14.9-inch central touchscreen. It also comes with the BMW Operating System 8.5, featuring a refined interface that makes it easier for users to navigate the screen.

Other notable equipment on this sedan includes a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, a head-up display, and a panoramic sky lounge roof.

The official launch event for the 2025 BMW M5 will take place at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. Pricing starts at $119,500 (approximately 3.04 billion VND), a significant increase from the previous generation’s starting price of $102,600.
